Preserve a Historic San Diego Site: North Chapel at Liberty Station NTC

Keep the Church!!!

McMillin companies need to preserve some of San Diego history, not destroy it in their development plans. Build a site to house an unnecessary restaurant & leave historic sites alone!

Navy captain William a Maguire is listed in the church as the first monsignor of this church . He is my great uncle and famous in World War II for the phrase, praise the Lord and pass the ammunition . My family is devastated by the idea of taking this famous church and converting it to a restaurant . This would be a disgrace to all navy veterans since World War II. This heritage must live on for the sake of San Diego. Hasn’t enough damage already been done .

This is a sacred space to many who have served our country. It should be used in this way

Please keep the chapel as a chapel. McMillin has a civic duty to preserve the chapel as is for posterity. It is an affront and insult to the people of San Diego and far and wide to even consider converting it to other purposes.

We were married in that Chapel! Has served our military family for years. Please leave it alone!

A historic place in San Diego military history which needs to be preserved.

I was in boot camp in SD at the NTC in 1966. Not only is this a Landmark but it is a House that has been used to Worship God for many years. At least 50 that I know about. Please preserve this Church Building for its original purpose.

I was married in this chapel and take great pride in seeing it being used as a chapel. A restaraunt in an old chapel? Aren't there like 100 other vacant buildings at NTC? Why do you have to ruin sacred things to dish out food?

Please, please consider the many, many people who use this property for what it was intended to be used. I sincerely ask you to see the beauty in doing the right thing - be charitable by honoring, respecting and preserving this historical monument. Thank you.

My family has attended Mass at this chapel for years. To replace it will not only destroy a historic building that has brought meaning to so generations of people, it will damage the character of Liberty Station as well.

North Chapel's Historic and Religious Significance should be Preserved! With my husband having served 34 years in the Navy, our family belonged to the Chapel at NTC when we were living in Point Loma. Our two daughters were married there, and my Mother's Memorial Service was there. I especially loved the beautiful Choir comprised of Navy Recruits! Please Preserve this Special and Sacred Place!!

Preserve the North Chapel and continue it's use as a church.

By denying the preservation of this Historic Liberty Station Chapel, McMillian Co is thereby denying the preservation of our U.S. military's spiritual heritage. We are saddened to see the Almighty Dollar speaking louder than our Almighty God!!!

Please maintain the building as a church.
