My son was married there in March 2017. It is a beautiful place. There are already too many restaurants in Liberty Station!

I got married there, please don't tear it down!

Please save the North Chapel. It is such a beautiful historic landmark. My husband and I were married at the North Chapel on June 30. It meant so much for us to to be married in a place with so much history.

Greedy McMillan already has enough restaurants in Liberty Station. The North chapel is a historic building that should be respected and kept intact for religious use. .

Please save this church. It is a pillar of the community and sacred for many. Restaurants, even those with innovative themes are a dime a dozen. This historic building is precious! Our son got married there a few months ago and it was incredible. Mark McMillan, we went to college together. In fact, you were my SAE LSM big bro. I urge you and your family to find a way to make this building stay. Memories are being made and the Lord is blessing Liberty Station here! Jayne Masters HaInes

It would be a sacrilege to use it as a restaurant! It is the most beautiful wedding venue in SD!

North Chapel should be preserved as an historic remnant of the Navy's role in San Diego. Do NOT turn it into a restaurant. There are already plenty of eateries in Liberty Station.

Please don't do this, let the Church keep it.

This is a sacred place!!! You will lose money on the reception hall (library)......I know, my daughter's wedding was at both places. Is it always about MONEY??????????!!!!!!!!

About me - the petition owner: I am a San Diego native of 42 years. My Dad was in bootcamp at the NTC when he was a young man and his funeral was held there 4 years ago. This chapel personally means a lot to me. I am also the coordinator for one of the congregations that holds service there, St. John Bosco Mission. We hold a Tridentine Latin Mass, every Sunday at 4pm. The priests who come to offer Holy Mass are from the SSPX (https://sspx.org/en) any prejudice that you have against the SSPX (agreeably one of the most marginalized Catholic groups in all of Catholicism) should be separate from this petition. When I created this petition, I just wanted to keep Holy Mass in a place that was meant to have Holy Mass. Today it has grown bigger than me. The local government is aware and the Point Loma neighborhoods are aware. We are working with people from the Liberty Station Arts District, Penninsula Community Planning Board, Point Loma Association, Our Lady of Fatima and those involved are continuing to partner with more. I am working as a concerned citizen of San Diego and the United States. This not driven by the SSPX at all. The only tie to the SSPX is that I am the coordinator of the congregation that meets at the North Chapel. Its how I knew of the plans of McMillin to close the chapel to public rental usage. We received notice in late 2017. I took action and created this petition for awareness in January 2018.

Please preserve this chapel! This chapel has incredible historical significance and still remains an important part of people's daily lives. The art community should be preserved as well.

North Chapel at Liberty Station should continue as a church, not just because it may be a historic site - but because it is a church - a lifeline of society. Church is a unique place that instills change in people’s lives. Strong and repeated evidence indicates that the regular practice of religion has beneficial effects in nearly every aspect of social concern and policy. Religious practice appears to have enormous potential for addressing today's social problems. For example consider St. John Bosco Mission which meets in North Chapel weekly. Their Faith changes individual lives as well as society. They present their faith to promote order, justice, culture, and peace; to offer real and lasting happiness - despite the widespread unbelief rampant throughout the world today. Church is all about being a community where inspiration to do greater good takes place, where deeper love is explored, where enriching relationships occur, where authentic living is the goal. Church is a community where individuals are cared for, where gifts are used effectively, where people are challenged to grow beyond themselves. Maintaining North Chapel as a Chapel - enabling two churches to meet weekly, facilitating the continuance of weddings, funerals and special events - is of greater value to the community than the presence of another restaurant with a worldly, money-making set of values!
