The North Chapel at Liberty Station is a national historic and architectural treasure. Desecration of any portion of the structure shows disrespect for its religious affiliation, the community, and for our nation as a whole.

Attended chapel services there during my A school in 1970. As well, my Marine Corps uncle attended services there before he shipped out to Hawaii, then Iwo Jima. I can’t imagine this beautiful and historic building being anything but a chapel with Navy roots.
It’s value as such can never be replaced. My uncle, 5th Div. 1/28/C was kia on D-day +1, Feb. 20, 1945.

This North Chapel at Liberty Station NTC must be preserved at all cost. This is a historic building of great importance, and it must be preserved as a living chapel - a place of worship, not a "Museum of Religion" as the communists in the Soviet Union did to the church buildings of the Russian people. Enough!!!

My wife and I got married in this church over ten years ago. There are already multiple restaurants in Liberty Station. It would be an insult to all the couples who have used this as the venue for the most important day in their lives, as well as the craftsmen who built this spectacular chapel, to utilize it as anything else than what was originally intended. Even the BRAC crew who was tasked to gut the interior refused to do so, as they recognized how special of a place it is. Save this chapel!!!

As a U.S. Navy veteran, I know of the buildings steeped in military tradition and this is one that should be preserved the way it is. My biggest decision to remain in San Diego especially Point Loma is the friendly atmosphere that keeps the military buildings unchangable. Please do not attempt to fix what doesn't need fixing. We adhere to traditions that are close to God. Do not mega-church the North Chapel. Create family areas of space for wedding receptions and faith based gatherings like banquet halls and meeting places for lectures about healing and grace. Invite the best to talk from around the world and if you must charge a small fee. You will be better blessed. Thank you.

USN Ret. I spent many hours in that chapel!
Especially in my early navy days. Spending time there gave me peace and strength to grow and become a successful navy man!
