Pre-K/Daycare in the Red Pod

no daycare in pine bush elementary school!!!

NYSSBA; state "that school board members are the educational leaders in their communities and determine the policies that govern the operation of their local public school systems." These "public officials" should determine policies effecting the safety and learning environment of our children in a fully transparent and accountable manner that include specific and written plans to address safety and learning environment dynamics of a new policy before that policy is approved and/or implemented. From all available written board meeting information this does not appear the case with these new policies. It is the parents and community responsibility to hold our policy makers transparent and accountable. I believe the school board owes parents and teachers a written security plan (and an original date when plan was decided upon) a reconsideration of the decision due to the tremendous disruption of the students and teachers and exactly how much money (if there is any being made) on this decision.

All three of my children went to pre-k at ECEC housed in the red pod. It was great and did not interfere with the other students. It makes more sense for the pre-k to go there.

This would be disruptive to the students and any decision should be made collaboratively

Please join us at the June 21 meeting at Pine Bush (6:30 pm). We will finally have the opportunity to express these concerns to Dr. Wiles

It is so difficult to find information about the program and all the specifics surrounding it- many parents still have no idea that this is even happening. It's unfair that Victory is enrolling kids already and there is more information about it on their website than I can find on any of our websites. I'll have two children in the blue pod this September and have many concerns on what a preschool program in the blue pod looks like that isn't being managed by people I trust. If parents and our teachers at Pinebush aren't happy with how the program is going to be implemented, then the Board needs to take this very seriously and rethink their choices on this matter. I am also looking at preschool's for the 2017-2018 school year for my youngest son, so even as someone who would benefit from having a preschool program at Pinebush and all three kids in one place- I still have so many reservations and am unhappy about how this is all being handled.

I'm a Pine Bush parent of a 1st and K student and this is a HUGE concern. Is this the thanks we get for supporting our schools and raising taxes on ourselves??? There was no shortage of information, articles, etc. leading up to those tax votes. At a minimum, the Board needs to respond directly to affected parents and explain their actions.

As a mother of a child entering kindergarten, I am highly concerned about the safety of having this school in the blue pod with their own access. Last year, the school put safety features in place and this is going to compromise the safety of the students as well as hinder learning. How are we supposed to lay the foundation for learning when our children are watching little kids out the window play and hear them screaming? I am disappointed that the board has not provided answers or seeked the thoughts and opinions about the learning environment our children are supposed to be in.

I wish the Guilderland parents had a say in this BEFORE the 5 year contract was signed and it was a done deal.

It is disheartening to hear that this is the way that the Guilderland Board of Education operates. It would be a terrible shame to lose teachers, and for a reason that can be avoided and for a reason that no one is asking for! Please consider listening to the people that pay Guilderland taxes before making decisions that affect all of us.

This is an overall bad idea. As a parent of a incoming 4th grader at Pinebush and a 20 month old currently in a local daycare program, this initiative concerns me. Moreover, to not include the teachers and existing parents of PBE in the early development discussions leads me to believe that this initiative is poorly constructed and really all about money. The impact it will have on the students (kindergarteners in particular) and teachers will require my family to explore alternative education institutions, and I know other parents who feel the same. Include the teachers and parents in this initiative before it's too late! Thanks you.

There are plenty of day care centers all around the Guilderland area, We do not have to put one in a Elementary School. Combining classes and loose 2 teachers is ridiculous and would be senseless.

Please reconsider

Our taxes are already through the roof and the town is going to go and charge for preschool using our school buildings and they don't care to listen to anyone. What a surprise

As the parent of a child going into 1st grade next year, and one who will be entering Kindergarten in 2018, this disruption greatly concerns me.

It's time that parent input is considered and the board understands that they serve the community and not the other way around. If money is the issue there are better ways than the current approach to rent space to a unrelated institution.

I urge all involved to reconsider the chosen location for the daycare and make the best decisions for current and future PBE students and our community.

The playground fence may also be in the area of the sandbox that was built in memory of a Pine Bush student that passed away. Are specific plans in place to allow all young members of the community access to that sandbox and were her parents notified directly of the change?

Unfair to your dedicated staff and teachers. Please take into consideration the voice of your community and school!
