To ensure players and coaches that are members of the CEWHA maintain their independence and right to make choices regarding their care we have developed this petition. The rights of players and coaches in the sport of powerhockey to select their own person or persons to provide care for them is something that cannot be dictated to them. This right is a human right and is universal. The personal care of a player or coach is just that, very personal and who they choose to help with care should not be questioned unless a current criminal record exists or proceedings are in progress. If we receive 100 signatures showing support for the petition below it will be provided to the CEWHA National Board to have it added to the Policies that govern the CEWHA and be effective immediately. If you believe that players and coaches deserve this right, please sign below to show your support. This is open to players, coaches, family and friends so please pass it along!

We, the undersigned, believe that the freedom and right for a player or coach to make decisions and choices regarding their personal care lies solely with them. The right to choose the person or persons to provide this care for them cannot be dictated to them.

This is a human right as well as part of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms (Section 7 - Life, liberty and security of the person) where it states "Everyone has the right to life, liberty and security of the person and the right not to be deprived thereof except in accordance with the principles of fundamental justice."

The right for one to choose who they feel is best suited to care for their needs ensures their security and safety while maintaining their independence as citizens with disabilities. The personal care of a player or coach is very personal and who they choose to help with their care should not be put in question unless a criminal record exists or current criminal charges are in place.

We request that this policy be added to the Canadian Electric Wheelchair Hockey Association Policies and be effective immediately upon receipt of this petition.
