It is simply outrageous that someone can exercise such power unilaterally. I support Rachel Dean's right to have the personal attendant of her choice when she travels.

Understandably, this is an issue that hits close to home. Personal care is fundamentally important and critical to the well being of persons with challenges. Leaders of volunteer organizations must struggle with balancing those individual needs with their obligation to ensure the safety and security of all participants. The attendants that you bring to your activity are exposed and accessible to all other participants and volunteers. The organizers have an absolute obligation to screen its volunteers, and to the extent possible, to protect its participants from undesirable characters and behaviour. Their obligation extends far beyond the test of criminal or legal process. They should have the right to prohibit attendance by any individual who conducts themselves in a way that is detrimental to the reasonable conduct of the league. I rather like the fact that the CEWHA is looking out for the safety of its participants. I would expect nothing less. I would be much more concerned if I thought they were blindly accepting a suspected voyeur or predator of some sort. Know your facts before you sign this petition.
