- la fermeture injustifiée de l’école de musique et de programmes musicaux reconnus depuis 165 ans,
- le manque de transparence de la direction de l’école,
- le refus du Conseil d’administration de rencontrer les parents,
- l’instabilité et le roulement inquiétants du personnel,
Nous, parents des élèves, élèves, anciennes élèves et parents des anciennes élèves de Villa Maria, demandons : 1. un moratoire sur la fermeture de l’école de musique ; 2. une révision des frais de scolarité dans le respect des services offerts et en conformité réelle avec le coût de la vie ; 3. le maintien d’un profil général sans frais additionnel ; 4. une représentation et une participation effectives des enseignants et des parents aux décisions de l’établissement en vue d’assurer fidèlement sa mission pédagogique.
Pour toutes ces raisons, nous appelons à un changement immédiat de gouvernance dans l’intérêt des enfants et de l’ensemble de la communauté de Villa Maria.
Given:
- the drastic and unprecedented tuition fee hike;
- the unjustified closure of the 165-year-old music school and termination of renowned music programs;
- the school administration’s lack of transparency;
- the refusal of the board of directors to meet with parents;
- instability and worrisome turnover in school personnel;
We, parents of students attending Villa Maria, students, alumni and parents of alumni, demand 1. A moratorium on the closure of the music school; 2. A review of tuition fees consistent with services provided and the actual cost of living; 3. A general educational profile without a fee increase; 4. Effective representation and participation of teachers and parents in school decisions to ensure fulfilment of the pedagogical mission.
For these reasons, we demand an immediate change of governance in the interests of the children and the entire Villa Maria community.

We just hit 100 signatures and the board of directors can no longer ignore this level of unrest. The administration thinks they can treat our community like an ATM while gutting our history but we are proving them wrong.

Save music school !!! I'm really sad now that music school is closed and also because of the change of price my parents cannot afford villa Maria anymore and now I have to chaange school and leave all my bests friends
As someone that whent through the private music program i am very sad to hear that it was abolished. I could not have learnt what i did without it and it was my favorite part of going to class. This needs to be brought back!
I'm a single mother. This septembre my son will join his older sister @villa, she will be going to sec 3... Guess I will have to work more and/or reduce our living expenses to afford this 36% raise in tuition fees. Thank you Villa

Impossible de prevoir la direction de Villa Maria meme a court terme. Des decisions importantes nous sont imposees, en mettant les parents et les eleves au pied du mur. Un manque de transparence incroyable et inquietant
La musique est essentielle dans l'éducation des jeunes. Je ne peux comprendre qu'on parle de rentabilité quand il s'agit d'éducation, des jeunes et de la musique.

I was strongly considering sending my twin daughters to Villa Maria, but am disappointed that the priorities of the new governance are not at all in alignment with our family's love of music. The lack of transparency is also disgusting.
