I have almost done the same thing on two occasions where there is a sharp turn over the line it can be rather confusing.

Pre warning lights on crossings save lives.
It's that simple.
Kerang in Victoria had a catastrophic rail accident some years ago which would have been avoided by a simple pre warning device 500 metres before the crossing.
The crossing at Mirrool NSW which took the life of an acquaintance over 20 years ago in fog would not have happened if pre warning lights which are now installed had been there.
Governments have a habit of wasting money on ridiculous things how about saving lives of the constituents they represent.

Keep our truckies safe, they deserve the same safety measures that are afforded to every other working person in this country.

As also having a close call years ago, gates and lights further from the crossing point will certainly help country rail crossings...

How many lives need to be lost or damaged for common sense and practicality to be considered when designing Australian infrastructures? With better design this (as well as so many other tragedies) could have been prevented!

Amber warning lights should be installed 200m before crossing too.

Move lights further back to allow heavy vehicles to slow down.
