I have lived in Portishead all 26 years of my life, and even before becoming a dog owner I remember walking and playing along the golf course. Now, as I dog owner, I regularly use it as a peaceful, scenic and idyllic dog walk. I meet many fellow dog walkers on a regular basis, and there is a great feeling of community among other walkers. It will be such a shameful heartbreak if this spot were to be ruined and made to be a noisy, industrial eyesore. A completely unnecessary waste.

This beautiful space must be retained for the use of everyone for ever

This is a typical example of land which should be kept for all the community

They wouldn't let Jeff Churchill have this course to run even though it would have been subsidised by the pub. This stinks quite frankly, Leave it as it is.t

I am born and bred Portishead and this will be an eye sore if they allow a 13 foot fence to be erected to hide waste and then they turn it into a brown site and build houses. We know what you are about !

Despicable behaviour, when will the powers that be wake up to looking after our facilities and environment and not leaping into the hands of those making a quick buck

how is it possible for a lease to be sold after only one year - who was responsible at the council for producing this lease?

Local disaster of the first order

it would be a disaster to allow this wonderful open space and facility for local people to be used as a landfill site.

The lie about all this is in the leaseholder saying that it will be houses if he does not make the changes he wants as a golf course. ANY changes he makes to the course will actually make it more likely to be built on in future. Keep it as it is increases the chance it can never be built on.

I wish I could feel confident that the golf course issue could be settled amicably and sensibly but I am concerned about the long term future of this piece of green space
