I played that course last summer and theer was nothing wrong with it. What is this all about? Keep it green!

I thought I read about a year ago that the course has already been brought up to spec. It lasted years before with basic maintenance so why is it suddenly not goog enough a couple of years after it was? Walked over that land for the past 30 years or more with no hassle.

Why change something that has been liked by all for years. For the people who use it as a golf course don't need it any more challenging or longer. Maybe they need to advertise it to get people to play.

My husband has walked this path from Walton Bay (where a relative had a chalet) to both Portishead and Clevedon! Whilst we as a family have enjoyed the path both both the wildlife and children expriencing the 'great outdoors' of freedom to roam and explore!

This should remain an open area where generations of local families can enjoy the walks and the views, as my family has done over many years.

This sounds like the classic landfilling con that has happened before. Two years ago the Portsihead skatepark project was approached by members of the town council to consider siting a BMX track on the then disused golfcourse as there was a possiblilty of it being handed over to the town council.. We spent sometime preparing a proposal only for North Somerset Council to change their mind and seek fresh franchisees for the land. This land should be used for public benefit not for private profit.

This is council, ie public land acquired with public money. It is not a private asset to be manipulated in the interest of public servants.

This is a beautiful open space that should be given village green status. Portishead residents pay more than enough council tax so unclear as to why the council need to earn an income from this. The open spaces in portishead is what attracts people including myself to living in portishead. The green provides a sense of community especially amongst walkers. There are many local golf courses to portishead which are more than meeting the golfing demand. If construction goes ahead, it will create noise and dust pollution causing misery to residents. If allowed to go ahead there will a risk of land slide and make the coastal path impassable during winter whilst making it permanently impassable if there is further cliff erosion. What about the wildlife, the moles and the Badgers. I assume that the golf course will use pesticides for ensuring the greens stay green and will be forced to destroy the mole population. It would be a tradegy to let these plans go ahead and would certainly bring into question whether the council have the residents best interests at heart.

In a democracy transparency is key. No Council or councillor has the right to make decisions that affect their council tax payers status without debate. I applaud this campaign that will expose what could be construed as being a covert manoeuvre.

In the mid to late 70s i played regularly on the 18 hole par 3 course. On a busy weekend you could have 3 to 4 people playing each hole and maybe 20 waiting to tee off. What do we see now, well while walking past the Windmill Pub we saw 2 yes 2 people playing. This is not a golf course anymore and what the Tenant is now proposing is just ONE BIG CON.This is a beautiful open space for everyone who live in and around Portishead should be able to enjoy for years to come. Cllr Pasley you should be ashamed of yourself....
