The ability to engage in meaningful conversations and express ideas that this proposal would effectively limit was crucial to my success in high school. We need to foster environments where individuals at all levels feel comfortable communicating with one another and discussing sometimes problematic topics in a safe and supportive environment.

I am a graduate of the class of 1996. Some of my most memorable life lessons from high school came from discussions with my teachers including Mr Bittinger, Mr Hartman, and Mrs Nye.

this policy is not just wrong, it makes it so that students cannot speak with the people they know about family and friend concerns, also the 1st amendment states " Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances" so in simpler terms this is unconstitutional

If not for my relationship with my teachers namely Mr Farrel and Mr.Bittinger along with a few others I would have missed out on some very important life lessons and some sage advice. If you take this opportunity away from current and future students they will be poorer for it.

I have a granddaughter currently in kindergarten at Hershey of which I want her to continue to feel comfortable to be able to speak with her teacher Mrs. Whitehead along with all her future teachers.
I am also a graduate of Hershey, class of 86 and I'm so grateful for all the teachers I had especially this who I could trust and talk to about anything

Proposed DTSD policy #824 is silly and unnecessary.

Actually Joe if you gave it the old 1 2 you'd read that it "states that students who bring up “personal or family” concerns be immediately referred to the guidance office to speak with a counselor instead of a teacher"
Reading comprehension is apparently too hard.

The student teacher relationship is what got me through high school. My mom battled cancer while I was in high school. My teachers helped me get through it as much as my guidance counselor did. Putting limits on this relationship is absolutely idiotic. How are you expected to get through something if your teachers are unaware of the problem.

Until a kid kills themself and its found out they only talked to a teacher. Then it's the teachers fault.

All it says is that teachers need to refer students appropriately. Not that they can't talk to them as well. Reading comprehension is apparently too hard.... Stupidity at its finest.

This is overkill and a huge overreaction. Let's not be ridiculous. Take more time and do this right.

The micro management of our lives through policies and govt is what is wrong with society today! Teachers are most times the only consistent thing in a child's life each day! The good ones don't need to be policed by such bureaucracy!

Teachers should be allowed to have students approach them and be able to confide in them!

We need to create safe and secure enviroments for students to be able to learn and grow. This includes being able to express their thoughts to teachers and create connections with teachers to help them through the day or through the years. As an alumni and a current Education major, I can speak first hand about the impact teachers have on the lives of students and the connections made are crutial to the well being of the students.
