What have we come to as a society. There has to be interaction with teachers.

Were it not for the efforts of Mr. Dailey, HMS, between 1997-2000, I, a new kid who had skipped a grade and found it hard to make friends, wouldn't be here. He helped me get into the athletics program and find an outlet for my anxiety and I eventually made friends. This policy would change that (if it had been in place then I'd have suffered). Mr. Dailey was one mentor. Then there was Mrs. Curry who got me into theatre (which is now my career). My high school experience offered so many more. Do not deprive current and forte students of teachers who may also turn into mentors. It is a vital part of education.

I think this is the complete opposite of what needs to happen. I think more real world interactions need to happen in school. More value than short term memorization of school books.

I don't really comprehend what's wrong with the policy now...? Why does it need to be changed? What has gone wrong that warrants this? I do agree that personal interaction between students and teachers is a good thing, of course with the restrictions that are already in place. Confused...

We need to develop more understanding between teachers and our students NOT more isolating policies.

My wonderful guidance counselor was a help. But teachers ar too. I got so much help from teachers and they even extended deadlines and tests from personal matters going on. Unless it's inappropriate, there's no reason a student can't discuss something with someone they look up to.

The relationship between a Student and there Teacher isn't just a Educationer one. The Teachers invest there time and hopes into the Students. They have there best interest in heart. Students will confine into the Teacher before a Councilor.

When you prevent teachers from forming meaningful connections with their students, a key part of the educational process is lost

My teachers and coaches were my support system during high school. Without having been able to talk to them and get their support, I don't know how I would have gotten through many trying times.

• HHS 2002 grad / Masters Degree in teaching • 6 years elementary teaching experience in a different district • 2 children of my own This is absolutely ridiculous. If it were not for Mr. Janderchick, Mr. Bittinger, Mrs. Altland, Mr. Nye, Mrs. George and Mrs. Houtz.... I would never have made it through! They helped me so much with different issues and guided me in my decision making. Kids need connection to teachers.

Please reconsider! Students and teachers should not be afraid to be humans with each other...

I taught 3rd grade at DTSD for over ten years. I learned quickly how important it is to build a relationship with each and every student. if students feel comfortable in your classroom, they will be more open to learn and behavior issues will be nonexistent. I am Facebook friends today with many of my former students. Some of them are now their 30's. This policy is rediculous!

kids need and deserve a teachers attention. Your asking teachers or should I say telling them to take away an important reason or part of perhaps why teachers chose their field. They are mentors, coaches, teachers, confidence, friends and role models. They are not just teachers. Not every child is blessed with a wonderful home life. If a child can't come to school and confide or vent or feel important then why send them at all?

Building relationships with teachers better engages the students and makes the teacher more relatable. Many students and teachers maintain healthy relationships within the classroom and without that students tend to lose interest in the subject matter. Trust me I know because I am a student myself. Students need role models to look up to and if they can't be teachers then where else do they turn?

When have we lost our minds. According to this insanity all Derry Township parents and guardians must immediately refrain from comforting their children and creating a climate that encourages growth and development. Sterile, cold, technological ... death to relationships, morals and hope.
