Absolutely NO. No - to the current PNBST Trustees and their proposed subdivision and open market sales of our land at the old WAINUIOMATA COLLEGE & INTERMEDIATE SCHOOL sites.

I support housing development projects that provide financially affordable options to the whanau. I also support kaumatua housing projects and papakainga projects where the land is kept in trust. If the kaupapa is about housing, then lets explore options where we can keep our land by leveraging off other significant assets so that we can allow whanau to build whatever type of home they can afford on allocated spaces. However, it appears that the underlying kaupapa of this project could be to release "financial equity" from the Wainui block to enable investment in other PNBST developments. We cant make money off our own people, especially those who are vulnerable by selling off our own land to them at a market rate. That is morally wrong and lazy financial planning. If the PNBST is is so much debt and needs to sell off our Wainui land to keep afloat, then that should be made clear, so those with expertise from across the iwi can figure out how to trade out of this mess without using our land. Once it is gone it is gone - there is no treaty settlement process to get it back....and that is called permanent land alienation.

My suggestion is to put transportable homes like Matrix or Greenhaven, sell the houses and lease the land to the homeowners. $300k house instead of $500k like developers charge and same size houses... developers are milking wainui residents for all they can get!!!
