The IAA knew of the perilous financial situation of PTC, yet still gave approval to continue training, and taking course fees from students. They need to accept responsibility for this oversight, and provide help for us students who were left in this terrible situation.

Clearly there are too many people shearling in the dark and getting away with daylight robbery with out any remorse or care and are still at large to do it again. Any body can see that this is clearly not right or fair.

Disgraceful behaviour by this company, and the industry as a whole if action is not taken to rectify this injustice! My son was almost caught up in this fiasco, fortunately for us the company went bust just before he was due to start training. A competitor stepped in to save the day. There are few professions these days that require you to invest six figures in to training with the full risk falling to the individual. The risk is that you fail the training or fail to get a job after getting the CPL. Non would expect a business in this industry to take the money and run. The industry must address this issue and compensate the unfortunate individuals who fell foul of the dubious practices of PTC. The industry must act now!

it was an absolute disgrave what happened to these students where families life savings went up in smoke when they were so near to the finish line. someone needs to take responsibility

Surely PTC would have had some sort of insurance to protect against this sort of thing? To be honest, when I started training with my flight school, I never thought that it would go bust. Its just not something that you, as the student, insure against. Maybe from now on this is something we should all think about when signing up to these training agreements.

Absolutely disgraceful. Enough of the false promises. Its time to refund all these innocent young people who took out loans and allow them finish their training, in order to get into the job market. Don't disillusion or humiliate them a second time.

Disgusting and deplorable way to treat the youth of our country. Is it any wonder that our highly qualified talented and competent young people are leaving this country to share their expertise with the rest of the world instead of ensuring we keep what should be precious to us as they are our future. We need to stand up against this now and appeal to the IAA to take responsibility for their actions afterall they approved the PTC as a flight organisation and undertook to assure these young people and their families that the funding was in place to complete the required training.

students paid 80,000 pounds each to be trained as pilots by the Irish pilot training centre in Waterford. This body had been licensed by the Irish Government. That these young people who had honestly paid their fees should have had their training stopped before completion is an outrageous state of affairs. The Irish Government should take responsibility for a licensed company to take huge amounts of money and then fail for whatever reason to meet the training requirements of the students.It is an unbelievable situation that there has been no recompense to the students involved and indeed no prosecution by the courts of those involved in this scandal

I feel very sorry for these students who have been left with huge loans to repay, be it by their supportive parents or the students themselves. Stories shared outside the Dail when the trainee pilots returned to Ireland were very moving. Stories of parents and students alike having lost considerable amounts of their fees, ranging from thousands to tens of thousands of euros. Young people who had such career opportunities ahead of them and funding it themselves or through family, instead of being on the dole and pulling of the state, got up and did something to improve themselves should not feel let down and alone in their plight. What kind of message are we giving those young people. 'Make an effort to educate yourselves and if it goes well 'WELL DONE, WE ARE PROUD OF YOU' BUT IF NOT YOU ARE ON YOUR OWN.

The precedent that is being set by this event is sending people down a very dangerous road. The people who paid the money should get it back from the IAA along with a letter of apology on the back of a ridiculous situation brought about by Official Ireland and the IAA.
