Please...More Grateful Dead Reunion "Fare Thee Well" Shows
Please sign the SongMango.com fan-generated petition NOW to support MORE Grateful Dead "Fare Thee Well" shows above and beyond the three scheduled at Soldier Field in Chicago over the July Fourth weekend 2015. Please SIGN while there’s still time.
PUBLIC ON-SALE DATE HAS COME AND GONE: General public ticket sales kicked off this morning (Feb. 28th) at 10:00 a.m. CST. Most fans fared poorly. There were 45-minute wait times while Ticketmaster checked for availability. Ninety percent of fans ultimately received a message like "High Demand! Sorry no matches..." Many folks had no choice but to go for tickets behind the stage – way up in the 400 level. And the ones that got them are now feeling lucky...because so many people got shut out.
MAIL ORDER HAS COME AND GONE: GDTS TOO, the Dead's ticketing service, was "inundated" with mail orders in late January – 60,000 envelopes containing requests for more than 350,000 tickets (some estimates say 400,000) for the three Soldier Field shows. Obviously, the widespread demand is far exceeding the rather slim supply.
The staff at the Stinson Beach Post Office – which houses the GDTS P.O. Box – confirmed that they were sending out between 2,000 and 3,000 rejection letters (or "pink slips") every day. The mail order ended in a whole lot of disappointment for a whole lot of fans.
THE ASK: Because we believe we deserve additional Fare Thee Well shows – a stop on the East Coast, one on the West Coast and one in the Southland (Texas, Florida, even Virginia…somewhere!) Just say YES.

If this final set of appearances is truly for the fans (as Bobby has said) – to reward us for decades of unwavering support and hundreds of millions in ticket sales over the Dead's 30-year run – then the Dead organization should do the right thing and convey their appreciation to their vast community of fans with shows that do not require a long, expensive airplane flight and pricey hotel room pillows to lay our heads on.
WHAT: We respectfully request a set of Fare Thee Well shows on the East Coast, on the West Coast and in the South (Lockn'?).
WHY: All Grateful Dead fans – across the country and around the world – deserve the opportunity to experience the band's Farewell Tour after years of devotion to Dead’s live performances and its history-making lifestyle and culture.
WHEN: It’s immaterial, as long as it's in 2015 – the band's 50th Anniversary. Let's ALL be able to celebrate.
WHO: The Core Four – Bob Weir, Phil Lesh, Bill Kreutzmann and Mickey Hart – along with a rotation of lead guitarists (who deserve to be included), such as Warren Haynes, John Kadlecik, Steve Kimock and others.
Thank you for showing your support! We are grateful, and Jerry will smile down on our efforts.
