It is said that for every 9000 sheets of paper used, we need to cut a tree. Nowadays employees of many Organizations have been claiming expenses online. Even I do and after that, I need to take a print of the voucher prepared, attach it with my bill and send it to the approving team. I actually will be printing 3 papers for this. If I had to claim a Mobile Bill again some 4 papers printed. It's a total of 7 per individual. Lets assume that around 40% of post paid customers for mobile and 60% in terms of postpaid data card usage to connect to internet (a fair estimate) of use print these 7 papers per month. Make an estimate yourselves about the total number papers printed for just mobile and data card bill claims. Normally we all think of that paper used but not the harm caused because of the dye used to print. The numbers cannot be ignored when it is such green a idea. It could be around some 50000 trees felled annually only in India. That's what it turns out to be. So what's stopping us? It is Indian laws which doesn't agree with electronic versions of the receipts. We could just attach the e-bill to the claim. The more people sign into this the more it will be easy for us to convince the Indian authorities. Let's be an earthworm for sometime.
