Passaic County has proposed an 18 hole disc golf course at Rifle Camp Park in Woodland Park, NJ.
The property is currently has several walking trails, camp sites, a Nature Center & Astronomical Observatory, picnic areas, and a wonderful scenic overlook. The course design safely traverses around the existing activities, as well as around future park improvements that are planned. The parks department requested that the design be beginner friendly, to provide the community residents an additional outdoor activity, as well as a challenging tournament layout to attract visitors to the park in Passaic County.
The course designer has worked with parks department, engineers of the county and also an arborist to ensure the layout works well for the park, any future park improvements to ensure the least environmental impact as possible. There has currently been some local resistance to the installation of this disc golf course. This would be a Great Addition to a Great Park. My wife go hiking-Bird watching at Rifle Camp. The course would not interfere with the Birders or hikers at all + Disc Golf is extremely quiet. People won't even know they are there. The Protesters are very uneducated and Selfish thinkers.
Disc golf is nothing but a positive impact on the community.. I just started playing 7 months ago and it has given me an outlet to get exercise and spend more time in nature in a positive way. I have lost over 10 pounds by just playing disc golf!
My Family is very involved with Disc Golf. It is a Great Activity to do with Kids/Families/Friends Etc. It is so much Fun, Great Exercise, and you get to be out in Nature while doing it. Ir's a Win-Win-Win!!!
Disc Golf is a life long sport that all can enjoy. Please consider how this will positively impact Passaic Country and the greater New Jersey area. Diverse park options benefit all. This disc golf course would be of minimal cost, but have big benefits for local residents.
Disc golf is a lifelong sport which can be enjoyed by anyone in just about any physical condition. Despite rumors that it is an unsafe activity, when designed properly and installed in an appropriate location/park, it is safe, non obtrusive, and utilizes land not suitable for any other activities.
Disc golf is an eco-friendly activity who's presence will most likely not even be noticed by other visitors to the park. Just look how successful the parks in NJ such as Greystone and Alexandria are.
This will be a great addition to the other outdoor activities available in the park. Disc golf is a great sport for all ages and abilities.

Grow the sport! All parks should have disc golf courses. I live in St. Louis where some of the less desirable parks have been brought back to life and made safe again because of the disc golf courses and the presence of disc golfers.
