The Common Core is not the change we need in education. Modifying 'curriculum' that is already disengaging and irrelevant to students and testing them more does not solve the problem in education. We have the tools and resources to completely reshape schools and the way students are educated and bunch of career educators and politicians who have no vision for the future are behind this. Without the lobby from companies that benefit from this standardized curriculum there would be no CC initiative.

Common Core has admitted that testing data shall be utilized for predictive and tracking means to measure supposed "college readiness" as early as grade 3. Any test that is administered in such a fashion as to measure general baseline preparedness without specific preparation, or to measure general trends, or to test any aspect of a subject’s response that is OUTSIDE of curriculum content, can no longer be considered as purely a measure of academic acumen, and thus becomes a human behavioral study, at least in part.
New Hampshire’s implementation of the SBA mandatory testing grossly fails to follow the federal guidelines for both the informed consent and the comprehension criterion as outlined in the 1974 National Research Act (Pub. L. 93-348). Given the objectives stated by Common Core and the NH DOE, I strongly feel that the SBA test departs from the realm of being purely an academic measure, and clearly presents elements consistent with behavioral testing, as described under federal laws.

Let's go back to basics, literature, math, history as it happened etc. Not teach to tests and not convoluted math, history, literature and science. Common Core makes no sense, is expensive, benefits only those who developed it. Furthermore, it is unconstitutional for the federal government to get involved in states education.

My sons are bored with this common core and have grades like 140 in math! What is going on. Meeting with school tomorrow to opt my oldest son out of the 8th grade smarter balance. So far have been told that he will face punishments for refusing to participate in the testing because he doesn't meet the standard reasons for opting out. Wish me luck.

I took the "online test" and I can tell you that it was very frustrating and complicated. Easy problems were made so complex. Why? The test giver oversees the laptop activity of those being tested and if a child gets 2 answers wrong in a row, the test giver makes them go back and do it again. What dos that show? Results are skewed. Funny how a school with only a few computers in the library all of a sudden has laptops for all children. Should have used the testing money to buy those laptops!

For one example.. MATH! The length of time it took for my child to complete one problem the common core way was such a waste of time and more confusing! I showed him the old school way and he was done in seconds! such a waste of time and money!

This top down control of our students' education is the worst thing to happen to our kids. It is unconstitutional it is invasive to privacy and is a terrible cost to our citizens and taxpayers.

Seems to be an inappropriate way of gathering vital statistics on individuals. The Secondary and elementary act a/k/a No child left behind. Points only to schools being tracked.
More importantly it seems like s very large legal problem with disclosure.
Not a bit of information available for a citizen to opt out. That would lead to a question of the constitution. The right to a free education.
This is a price attached to education. Supreme Court needs to be asked a simple but tough question.
