Please save the RMU Men's Cross Country/Track and Field Program

My husband was on the track and field team at RMU from 2004-2008, he not only excelled as an athlete at this instution, he also excelled as a scholar. This program pushed him to do the best he could not only on the field, but in school. He gained numerous lifelong friends, grew as an adult to face situations solved with the coaching staff at RMU, and gained confidence from being a Division 1 athlete. I believe it is a shame to allow this program as well as the 7 others to leave the school grounds.

How much per student do these sports compare to football and basketball - I doubt very much. Should keep the sports and compete locally to reduce the costs.

collegiate sports are an important part of social interaction for participants and spectators alike. Administrators should find a way to provide financial support and continue these athletic programs.

Collegiate athletics should not just be about making money but providing students with opportunities that will shape and prepare them better when they graduate and enter the work place.

As a fellow collegiate runner I couldn't imagine how terrible this news is. I'll certainly pass this on.
