I loved the Russian club I was in - it had lots of members; it was very active, supportive and competitive - the club would prompt you to sign in when you might otherwise not have done - please restore it!

This is the number one reason I even wanted to start duolingo. Got five friends on and realized it didn't exist. May not use otherwise.

The math is simple. Duolingo wants more money, but clubs create more engagement to the app, more engagement to the app means more potential time watching ads, and that means more money. Duolingo, removing clubs is a dumb move. More in general, removing people engagement in the long-term for earning a bit more money in the short-term is a really dumb move.

Who are these random strangers and where are my friends? I really don't care what people who I don't know and who aren't even learning the same languages as me are doing. My friend was No4 and I was No 6 yet we could see each other on our apps the list was of completely different people. So it is not at all relative.
And where are the lovely little activities now? They were great fun to see what each of us did. Gone! It's just me plodding along on my own. No interaction. No fun. Boring now! Very sad. Looking for a new app.

Please revive our clubs and if you want Leaderboards keep them too, but not at the expense of Clubs. Thank you
