This is horrible; we have a child who brought chicks home as a class participation project. She was tought to nurture and to be involved in the education of the benefits of how agriculture can play a big part of healthy living. Since then the children and parents bonded with the chickens; they became their pets and part of the family. With one call from a vindictive person this changed everything. The children were being thought responsibilities of caring, cleaning, feeding and protecting their pet. It seems to me that we should focus on the good this has brought.... would it be better that these children be exposed to drugs and stealing? What is wrong with our society and the law that can break the hearts of young, loving children.

Where’s the harm? They look after them and love them. Breaking children’s hearts to what end. Shame on the neighbor.

Leave the hens where they are. After 3 years they should with no problems they should not have to leave their home...

As an HRM taxpayer, we've probably wasted more money having to handle the complaint of someone who has nothing better to do than stir the pot than to update the bylaw to allow for the hens! They're probably related to my neighbour who has called the Fire Dept no less than 3 times to report my up-to-code backyard fire pit (and only burning when permitted to do so)

This family is absolutely amazing. They take pride and great care in what they do. I'm disgusted that this decision was brought on to them! I am more than happy to support them!

Please be reasonable and let them keep their hens. You can plainly see they have enough room for them.

I can see banning a rooster because of noise but hens? Less messy than dogs.
