This is a classic case of abuse of power, corruption, call it what you want. Government must support the Manx or otherwise why were they elected in the first place.

i am getting totally fed up with this government making shockingly bad decisions about services on the island. They are a complete shambles and should stop making a complete mess if everything they do.

No Way should this be allowed to go forward without a full public enquiry, after all its your money

I am vehemently against doing away with the Children's Centre contract especially under dubious circumstances to then award the contract/s to an off island company who will, in my mind, reduce the quality of care and services currently on offer to the children who are the most vulnerable in our ordinarily caring society.

Disgraceful. I'm not from the island, but my brother in law works for the children's centre and I've seen the fantastic work they do. To close these homes would be a travesty, for the children and staff.!!

i can't see the logic in this decision. Poor service for profit I fear is the answer. The UK is something to learn from certainly. But we should learn from there mistakes as well as there successes. Poor service is a problem!

We may be in a period of austerity and find it necessary to reduce some of the services the government provide but is it really appropriate to have dealt with these hard working people in this manner? The way that this, and the recent Post Office closures have been announced is terribly lacking in empathy and doesn't reflect how many of the island's population feel our "representative" government should be handling things. I trust that there are reasons unbeknownst to me why they have decided that the Childrens' Centre, rather than MHK pensions, benefits and salaries are the areas to save money but I've yet to hear any convincing justification. If, as pointed out, the children themselves are to be properly cared for, I don't think a knee-jerk closure of the services providing a valuable growth environment for them, is particularly going to help.

Isle of Man Government asks the Manx Public to support local, to shop local and use local services. Yet this administration seems to 'import' more to run our Island's services than it does to source local providers. Yes St Christophers has been on the Island for a few years, but it's parent company is UK based. This economy needs to be supported in every possible manner by it's own Government. These are supposed to be Manx politicians and yet they emit the phrase 'do as I say, not do as I do'.... Politicians should above all else have a better understanding of what this Island needs and not just pay it's residents lip service. It needs to listen and act both openly and transparently and involve the Manx public. These people work hard to raise money to support the children's home to ensure it can provide the best possible care for those in their care. These children are the future, our future, they need stability and support and to know that those people, whom may have spent 1000's of hours getting to know a child and perhaps only just breaking barriers with them, gaining trust and understanding to now have it totally ripped away? This isn't about juggling numbers on a spread sheet and this isn't about profit or loss as far as the Government is concerned because the Childrens Home is well established and has been since I was a child... 40 years is a long time to simply turn around and say it's not cost effective.... if this administration can sit in its own homes and look at what they have in their family lives and smile, then they should show the same amount of consideration because their family isn't about the money, it's about the children and the staff that spend hours resolving issues that no man behind a desk has the qualifications or the knowledge to begin to understand... Support it, leave it alone or swap the places with the staff and see how well you can run it because I suspect you won't last 5 minutes... know your people, listen to them and take on board

Please everyone share and sign this petition. The government need to know a vast majority of people are behind the children's centre to continue to look after our children and families. They also need to become transparent on how these tenders were won and the full reasons of why.

im against the idea of sourcing work from outside the island when there's a business already in place on island. Purely based on saving money. It's disgusting. Most things on island can be sourced cheaper off island. So where would it end? With a population with no work?
