These old buildings (especially ones built with public donated money) must be saved. They dissappear and are replaced with abominable structures ruining the aspect and atmosphere of Ashford.

We must keep our heritage, this is another example of big business trying to increase their profits, this company would have the knowledge and experience to know what the costs were, did they just agree to keep the hospital on the basis that once they had planning permission they could withdraw from their commitment to keep the building and thereby reduce their costs to make even greater profits?

Please don't let yet another of our buildings be torn down. Many people will have memories of this hospital,
I was taken there when I broke my leg at 4 years old, my Mum spent time there after nearly dying in a hit and run incident, and my Dad passed away there. How much more of Old Ashford are we to lose to money making developers with no thought for our history?

I am a structural engineer and the property is still absolutely solid. All Abbey Homes are capable of is being greedy and are not capable of renovating this old gem. They are more interested in money and building off the shelf souless dwellings seen up and down the country. About time the museum defended the building and Gerry Clarkson.

Renovation must be the more ecological friendly action. Demolition would be an act of vandalism.

I think this town is rapidly loosing it's historical identity,progress is needed but not at any cost this building would make lovely converted flats or sheltered housing it is a good solid building with a good design and really believe anything put in it's place will not be as well built or long lasting. Please leave us with some of the town we love!

The history of this building's presence as a result of public donation nearly 100 years ago gives this building a reason to stay here in Ashford. On a commercial basis, Abbey Homes view that is not now economical is nothing but transparent financial greed. They probably planned this from the very beginning as they can claim the VAT back on new build but not refurb. The market is still very strong and so the financial situation has not changed but in fact improved for the developers - ABC too often rolls over and developers know this as they have the money to keep appealing. Have some backbone ABC and remember you're a conservative party who's meant to favour localism and listening to the local people!

Ashford hospital was given to the people of Ashford, the building should be preserved as an historical building. Before anyone can do anything to the building it should be researched why it was given to the town and the residents. People come first. Think before action

I have lived in Ashford for 55years and the Ashford hospital is part of Ashford heritish.Both my mother in law and sister in law were nurses there.we have moved to the abbey homes site,and strongly feel that this old wonderful building should be kept for people to enjoy.far to many historic buildings have been demolished in Ashford.

Please rescue and renovate the old hospital, it's a fine piece of architecture and it deserves to be modernised and turned into a nursing home for the ageing population of Ashford, or how about a new oncology department instead of all our cancer patients being sent to Canterbury?
