I was one of the first students in this class. My little buddy and I still have contact. As a student it taught me and guided me with life long skills. It is a great hands on program for students to learn life skills. Education needs to get out of books and be hands on. You simply can not learn childcare from a book. It MUST be experienced.

I was a part of this program back in high school and it was a rather amazing program. It gave me experience working with kids, and a bit of insight into the world of teaching. It would be a shame to see the program stop running.

What an amazing program this is....it would be a shame to see it close. All 3 of my kids attended it and i cant say enough about it. It was a remarkable experience for the little kiddos and teenagers. Hope it stays open :(

This daycare runs a great opportunity for students at Odss to gain experience In the child care field. There have been many students and their little buddies form long lasting relationships under the guidance of Ms brush. Great program!! Don't cancel it!!

This sounds like a wonderful and unique program... The fact that it has been running for 30 years is a sure testament to its value and success within the community! It is important when making large sweeping changes in an effort to improve health and safety of childcare, that individual gems like this one are considered for their intrinsic value and unique circumstances (we should not afterall and especially in this instance, throw the baby out with the bath water!) This kind of interaction between preschooler and teen is a rare example of community working together to make a meaningful impact on the lives of all involved. Please do not be short sighted about this decision. Please take a look at this program and its unique situation and try to find a way to prevent destroying something so valuable to the community. The changes that you are implementing are in the name of the health and welfare of the children, clearly a priority that has been exemplified through this program for 30 years.

Why would anyone want to cancel a program that benefits these two age groups as well as low income families. Perhaps the money planners should take a long look at what they are doing and think of the good of the community instead of what looks good

This program was so valuable for my kids and for their big buddies. I hope it continues on, I wish it was available across the province.

My daughter went 2 years and the interaction and support and yes love she got from her big buddies was amazing. I am all about community which was the reason I chose to send her to the program. I am still in touch with her "Big Buddies" and believe they got much in return from this class. This should not be cancelled and I believe is an excellent tool for students futures working so close with the children in their program. I saved the gifts and books they made her. Thanks to those who give time, energy and run fundraising. I believe this was a great experience and would recommend it to other parents even as I am a child care provider. We moved here just over 10years ago, she is 12 now the attention she received could not have been better and was great for her after a move to a new house and town and having two older brothers, it was her special time to learn, play and have fun. I think this program is both beneficial to the students as well as the children who are registered in the program. Many thanks.

I did this program as a student over a decade ago, and the value of this program to not only the older students but the younger children as well is immeasurable. What a shame that they would have to shut the program down.
