CONGRATS Indianola K-8 Unified Arts Team! Our pleas were heard!

Please keep the full time integrated arts program at Indianola. Our children deserve it.

My daughter went to Indianola, and I can say with absolute certainty that this school set the foundation for her curiosity, eagerness and passion -- for things in the arts and beyond. The curriculum is a treasure -- and cutting it would have a profoundly negative impact on the children who go to school there.

Please do not cut the arts programs. It is such a postive influence when the world is so filled with negatives..

We chose Indianola for our son in 1981. Both of our grandsons attend Indianola because their parents consider the program at Indianola to be a valuable integrated arts curriculum. The arts have never been and should not be considered an extra.

As a CCS teacher I see the importance of art in our students lives. Please don't take away this outlet for many of them!! We are taking the fun out of school!

i have written to the superintendent on this issue and hope that this policy will be undone and arts rich offerings will be preserved at indianola and expanded to other schools!!!!

The arts are a very important part of the education system. Please keep them!!

Work harder to be better,

I quote a movie: "If we keep cutting arts budgets in order to favor of 'more important subjects' then pretty soon our kids won't have anything to read and write about."

There's lots if evidence stating that recess and the arts improve the brain, and that cramming testing crap into little brains doesn't help. Yet, still it's business as usual and the leaders do the opposite if what the research suggests. *sigh

Keep the arts in our education!

One of the things that impressed me several years ago when I visited this school was the creativity that shone throughout the hallways and classrooms because of all the artwork that was integrated into all the classes. Art speaks to the many intelligences that we should be developing in all of our students. This is not a smart way to save money!

Live without art is boring and beige.

I wrote the school board to express my complete lack of understanding. I also included this: "Please reconsider what you are doing. As Columbus City Schools bathes in the aftermath of scandal and past poor decisions, the school board should be doing all they can to show off their positive work, not destroying it. The Indianola and Clintonville community are big time pro-education advocates and taxpayers. It would not be a smart move to do something negative to their community... in fact, let me mention ANOTHER failing in this arena. Tearing down the Clinton Elementary Annex is a very bad move that will affect school board support in this area as well. These moves are beyond understanding."

Art should never be cut from a child's education, that is where children can express their creativity and differences.

Art is food for the soul

Keep the integrated arts full time.They are a part of a child's well rounded education!

Please do not disrupt a 40 year history of excellence in programming. Indianola should be a model for other schools and not punished for its success.

Keep the arts in!! why mess with what works! ?!?!

As students and parents we all foster and cherish the Indianola Informal education and school community. It should become the example for how other Columbus City Schools could operate and THRIVE. It’s time to take the arts off of the chopping block for good. Indianola Informal should NOT be punished for having a 40-YEAR-LONG proven and effective program in the arts. I BEG you to rethink any cuts to the arts programming at Indianola and ALL of the Columbus City Schools.
