As a fellow K-8 Unified Arts teacher and a former student of Indianola Informal, I firmly support maintaining a fully time Unified Arts Staff at this and all K-8 schools. Our students need continuity and need the arts full time!

PLEASE keep the full time arts staff at Indianola K-8. It is an alternative school with an integrated curriculum. The arts are considered of equal importance to the other subjects. They are not "add-ons". If you reduce the arts in this school, you will significantly and detrimentally alter the program and it will no longer be the alternative school program it is intended to be.

As a student who experienced an Indianola arts education, I would not be as creative without the help of these great teachers. Even though I loved my art education there were times when nothing brought failure to my face quicker. Art makes you deal with failure, a sometimes unknown experience for gifted students. The world is better with art. Why do away with it?

I am Chair of Dance at The Ohio State University and we are extremely committed to doing everything we can to bolster arts education in CPS. This is CORE, not FRINGE. Please let us partner in innovative ways to make limited resources go further. Of course there are challenges, and cuts have to occur, but this seems like a mis guided proposal for something that is so successful and pivotal to the empowerment of so many young people's lives. Happy to think creatively with CPS.

As a teacher and parent I have witnessed the joy in learning, and the many ways arts integrated learning brings a community of learners together. Full time, integrated arts education is a right for all children.

The short shrift given to the arts and other "non-essentials" is destroying our children's education. It takes the joy out of learning.

Aren't here are enough problems to fix in the CCS system? Why mess with success? This is a flagship program. Arts integration is part of what makes Indianola a sought after school and a special place in the community and CCS system.

My granddaughter went to Indianola alternative and just won a 4 year shcolorship to Otterbein which she attributes to the Humanities and Arts from Indianola Alternative and CAHS.

Please do keep Arts in the school programs, students need to learn doing nice things , it gives them sense of pride and many appriciations.

Indianola is the premier K-8 option in the Columbus City Schools precisely because of its integration of arts and traditional academic experience. As an educator at OSU, I urge you not to dismantle this system that works so well and that, as countless studies show, foster cognitive development extremely well for a diverse population of students at that level. CCS should should integrate arts fuilly into its other schools rather than canibalizing this marvelous institution in order to provide a token show of educational diversity at other schools. That is not efective resource management, reghardless of whta the bean-couners say.
