For every person who is calculating and practical, there are many more that need inspiration and creative outlet. Please think of those that may be inspired and productive because of the arts in their myriad forms.

Keep Arts in school

art is a passion and i feel everyone should be able to pursue it ^.^

This program has positively impacted many young lives. The importance is undeniable., shouldn't need defended.

We need to educate for the future skills and dispositions that will help young people prepare for a rapidly changing world. Arts education has been proven to cultivate the creativity and innovation that are the basis of the US's international competitive advantage.

My son, who is 37 now, went to Indianola. Many of my friends' children have gone there, are there, or will be when they are old enough, assuming they win the lottery. I've volunteered at Indianola as recently as a couple of years ago, and would be still were my health good enough. It's easy enough to understand that perhaps the Board wants to increase arts education at other schools, but to do this at the expense of the fabulously successful Indianola program is wrong-headed. Education in ALL the arts needs to be increased everywhere, and decreased nowhere.

The Unified Arts Team is critical to the success that Indianola Informal K-8 has had over the past 2 decades. As the district looks to improve, it should not tinker with the core of this incredibly successful program. As a Columbus resident for over 20 years, I am keenly interested in the success of the Columbus Public Schools and pay very close attention to the decisions that are made by both the Board and the Superintendent. I understand the need to look at innovative ways to save money and expand successful programs, but I also understand well the program at Indianola, and the importance of the complete integration of the Unified Arts Team to its success. I spent many years coaching baseball and soccer in leagues that had very large contingent of Indianola students. The kids from Indianola were always the most well rounded and eager to learn – they were the most friendly, and the best of friends for my own children who attended parochial schools. I have encountered many former Indianola students over the years (many of them now grown-ups), and every one has seen success in their endeavors. The arts education they received at Indianola, integrated with their academics has given them the broad critical thinking skills needed to succeed. Please don’t alter the core of this program as you strive to improve our schools.

It is critical we keep art.

The arts program is a big and important part of indianola. Please don't cut it.

To those considering the cutbacks: please reconsider! The arts are more important than you may believe as they help students develop a broad range of problem solving and creative thinking skills that are equally important yet different from those in the academic core. It also allows more hands on-minds on time than traditional academic subjects! They give many students an avenue for success that helps those individuals feel competence and confidence in their abilities especially when they struggle with other academic challenges!

One of the true impact oriented strong points of the Columbus Public School System in the modern world is its creative efforts on delivering creatives skills to its students. This is an area of true importance.

Nurturing a culture that allows for creativity feeds new possibilities!
