I don't agree with the plans for this development. I disagree strongly against the height and size. It doesn't fit the surrounding buildings and homes. Traffic is already congested in the area this would add to and make it more difficult for pedestrian and bicyclists. I am frustrated that we as citizens of Middleton aren't being heard and or listened to!! I believe that there are better locations for the proposed development. This isn't it.

The proposed 4 story 39 unit studio apartments fails to address the serious concerns of neighbors, but appears to be selfish, and disregards the common families of Middleton, and what made the city a desirable place to call home.

This building is simply too large for the area. All other buildings in this region are 1 or 2 stories tall, and adding such a large building will dramatically change the feel of the neighborhood. Moreover, the families on Franklin Ave *do not* want such a large building in their backyard, and their voices should be heard.

No more Mega apartment buildings in Middleton! This proposed design has absolutely no place in our neighborhood.

I agree with previous comments. I would not want a huge 4 story building on my block and I live down the street from where this is to be developed.

Common council needs to listen to their constituents and compromise with them before moving forward.

I love the small town feel of Middleton. Please keep it this way with an appropriately sized housing complex that isn't an eyesore for those of us currently living here.

Please take into consideration what the neighbors have requested. Don't let this be another Stagecoach development.

When is enough enough?! The downtown is filled with tall buildings looming overhead and empty storefronts below. Parking is nill. So now we decide we need more congestion on University Ave? I can’t believe all the new apartments that we currently have are rented. Let’s reel in the development and consider what’s best for the community. Does the Middleton Common Council know or care how the citizens feel ?

There are other property sites available that will not interfere with redirecting traffic through residential neighborhoods.

The city should absolutely consider that the size of the building does not fit in with the surrounding community and they should maintain the maximum height of 3 stories for commercial and mixed-use projects. This will be visually overwhelming and projects this dense should be downtown. It’s just too dense like fitting a round peg in a square hole. As a resident on Franklin Ave I have traffic safety concerns. Any tenant that wants to go downtown will reroute more un-needed traffic onto Franklin Ave and make the area more unsafe. Look forward to the conclusion of the traffic impact analysis (TIA) on the surrounding neighborhood, especially on Franklin Ave. Safety should be the number one priority.

Please do not build this! This structure will loom and completely obliterate the one-story houses behind it. Also, it will lead to illegal U-turns and dangerous traffic - possible accidents.

Buildings this tall along University will destroy the look of Middleton. The traffic plan is horrendous!

I do agree with what has been said here.

Middleton is changing and growing, and workforce housing is an important need as it grows. We all acknowledge that. But it is also important that we preserve the residential character of Middleton. If we allow large buildings, businesses and apartments to appear helter-skelter around the city, we will destroy the very features that make Middleton attractive: the tree-lined streets, the houses, the homes and small apartments that make up neighborhoods and draw both young families and older ones to live and invest in Middleton. Young families may start out in apartments but they want to be able to move into homes. City Council and Plan Commission need to reconsider how to implement “densification” along major arteries. They must step back and look at the bigger picture instead of continuing to treat each development project as a one-off decision ("This particular project will have minimal impact on traffic and existing neighborhoods near Century Ave., University Ave...., etc.). No matter what their income level, young couples and families still value residences with open space and mature trees. Maximum density, high-rise, downtown style buildings with minimal green space may add value for the developer and City coffers, but over-use of this strategy could convert Middleton from a “Tree City” where our children and grandchildren will want to live into an “Apartment City” that they will flee as soon as they are able.

Single family homes don't want 4 story apartment buildings in their backyard. Keep Middleton small town feel, no Big apartment building right off university near downtown.

I am opposed to building the 4 story Addison apartment building as currently proposed. I understand the desire to build on what you are calling blighted lots. I believe that if we want to preserve the community nature of downtown Middleton on University Ave, the Middleton Common Council should find a way for Austringer Capital Group, LLC, to build a 3-story apartment building with 1 and 2 bedrooms suitable for families and retired people, rather than studios for singles. I have been driving around Madison looking at the difference between 3 and 4-story apartments. A good example of a 4-story apartment building is on the corner of University Ave and Segoe Rd, west of Target. This is definitely an urban type apartment. A nice example of a 3 story apartment complex is on E Wilson across from Central Park. It's a more family friendly style building that is tall but not so opposing that it has a big city feel. Before we make an irreversible decision to urbanize the University corridor with all its implications, I think we should FIND ways to build what will enhance the character of Middleton, not just build what currently feels financially possible.

This project, similar in ways to the Stagecoach Trails Apartments, illustrates the disconnect between City planning and neighbors. Developers rightly claim that these oversize projects meet the goals of City plans. But did neighbors ever really approve the plans? When plans were developed were they truly communicated to residents? I support the request for review of City plans and complete overhaul of the planning process.

You are destroying the the back yards of the people who live on the South side of Franklin Ave. (three Story Max) Driveway should be EAST of median to allow for left turn. If this causes traffic problems, Then it should NOT be allowed to go forward. Please think of the EXISTING residents.

Doesn't Middleton already HAVE enough empty buildings??? Is the new downtown development full yet?? I've lived in Middleton for 40 years. 23 of them just two blocks from this new project's site. I do NOT believe this will be a good addition to Middleton or the neighborhood. IT'S JUST TOO BIG!!! And routing traffic behind it onto Franklin will be disastrous! Have you ever driven Franklin (where I live now BTW) before classes @ the high start or let out for the day?? BOTH SIDES are full of parked cars and buses are moving through! It's pretty much one lane down the middle with your life in your hands! DON'T DO THIS to Middleton! Enough is enough.
