I'm not a fan of the horror genre and am ONLY interested in seeing this film as the director intended with social commentary intact.
I'm very interested in seeing the writer & director's vision of this film. I think it suffered from poor interference and as such, deserves a second chance.
I just watched the currently released version of this film on British tv and I'm convinced that the Director's & Writer's cut has to be an improvement.
Even though I am a little biased, I have seen both and Hals film is far superior than what it out there on DVD
It's a travesty that genuinely inspired horror films are so rarely made anymore, especially when the ones that are proceed to make much larger profits and acquire an audience that keeps growing decades into the future, while the shoddy, generic titles produces cook up barely make anything and disappear into obscurity as soon as they drop out of theaters. So even from a marketing standpoint, the current climate makes no logical sense.
Just watched this for the first time and I can see the film's potential, I would love to see a better edit though!
Never mess with an artists vision. They are the one whose ideas come to life. Show the art.

I purchased a DVD copy of the butchered version of the movie at a pawn shop for $1. Expecting a b-movie, what I got instead was an above average zombie flick with an utterly baffling and nonsensical ending. Hoping for an answer to what it meant, I came across numerous accounts of the movie being nothing like what the creator intended. High-quality thought-provoking horror movies are few and far between, and it's no wonder why when you see what Screen Gems thinks the public wants out of their media.
