We need to retain our C4 listings to protect our old growth trees and the wildlife that lives in our backyards - maintaining wildlife corridors between reserves. Council must also recognise the the hazards Pittwater’s residents are exposed to - including Bushfires, flooding, landslides and extreme storms on clifftops - and zone the land accordingly C3. Embers from bushfires in Ku-ring-Gai chase during extreme heat with high winds could ignite large areas of Pittwater and we have very limited evacuation options - every road out of Pittwater was closed in the 94 fires. We cannot afford to significantly increase density and so must make sure land is zoned to prevent this.

Ceding yet more of the precious and precarious Pittwater environment to developers is short-sighted and utterly disgraceful. Future and younger generations have the right to expect that the elected public officials of today exercise their duty of care to them and fiercely protect such environments from development. Please, wake up!!

Justifying these zoning changes on grounds of LGA planning efficiency is rubbish. So what if there are different zones for important Pittwater environments. So there should be. It is not new news - they are already in place and for good reason. Thanks but no thanks State Govt. and anyone on the NB council who thinks they are a good idea and consistent with community environmental protection expectations. And to those in Govt. who want to continue to push a perpetual growth model, try it on somewhere else. I hope locals there also tell you where to go. Looking forward to the upcoming State election for the opportunity to vote in someone locally that is truly part of the sustainability solution and to vote out the incumbents that are absolutely not.

Pittwater's natural and cultural heritage, waterways, coastal foreshores and magnificent scenic quality of its landscapes must be saved. Scenic quality and indigenous places and landscapes have not been included as conservation criteria. This is a major flaw in Council's conservation review.

I strongly object to the re-zoning of sensitive environmental land on the Palm Beach peninsula. R2 zoning to this area will remove any control from NBC as to types of development approved for this sensitive land into the future.

We have to say enough is enough. If we don't draw a line in the proverbial sand our population density will increase decade after decade until the beauty of this unique are is lost for ever.
We have to accept there are physical limits and we have exceeded them. This is why our 2021 National State of the Environment Report continues to describe in painful detail that our biodiversity continues to worsen and there are ever more more species are added to the critical endangered species list. The report states the number one cause is anthropogenic and that this drives loss of natural habit which is the primary cause of threatened spies and biodiversity threats.
We must strive to live in ecologically sustainable balance, which will enable humanity and the the biosphere to live sustainably for thousands of years.

1. Rule out rezoning of C4 land to residential
2. Apply conservation zonings to properties where any significant environmental values or hazards are present
3. Create Scenic Foreshore Protection Areas from shorelines to ridgelines
4. Retain all Heritage Conservation Areas and investigate those proposed - but not yet implemented - by the former Pittwater Council.
