Pittwater Conservation Zones need to Stay

Don't let Pittwater, a unique environmental area be turned into a concrete jungle full of apartments

We moved to Avalon for its fresh air and escape the concrete jungle environment development. Pittwater is the lungs of Sydney, Keep it that way!!

This parcel of land is important to keeping our green spaces. (What’s left!) I couldn’t believe it when I saw Sydney Water wanted to sell it. It’s a beautiful little piece of natural habitat. Leave it alone.

I support the petition. No to any loss of Conservation Zoned land. Yes to the petitions 4 policy statements. Council's own landscape priorities in Towards 2040 Local Strategic Planning Statement include protecting the scenic and cultural landscape. Clearly this planning goal must apply to Pittwater and its environs. Yet scenic and landscape quality, applied broadly, is not included as a conservation criteria at all in Council's Conservation Zones Review study. In relation to the C4 zone, the protection of scenic and aesthetic landscape quality is a mandatory objective of the zone as required under the NSW Standard LEP Instrument. So it is necessary to include scenic and aesthetic landscape quality as a Conserbation criteria when assessing land suited to a C4 Zone. The non-inclusion of scenic and aesthetic landscape quality as a conservation assessment criteria is a major flaw in the review findings. Also where are the Indigenous cultural sites and landscapes mapped in the Conservation Zones Review.

Now we start to see the reasons why the Baird Government was keen to get rid of Pittwater Council

Please do not destroy any more of our open spaces or rezone for higher density. Think of the future not just your present.

Please preserve our beautiful Pitttwater

So important to protect the non-built environment. Once it's gone we can never get it back.

NBC please leave us alone. We want trees & wildlife…not development. We chose this area for the tree canopy & everything gives us.

The Northern Beaches Council is ruining Pittwater and this is an example of cutting down more trees to over populate our beautiful area just to get more money from developers and more money from more rates. When can we deamalgamate and get rid of this terrible council.

Please protect our beautiful Northern Beaches - we need more conservation NOT more development. It’s too precious to Ruin by development.

Conservation zones must stay to protect the unique diversity of Pittwater and to ensure an ongoing environmental character for residents and visitors alike

We must protect the area we love and stop this changing of our zoning which will only result in overdevelopment. I'm championing the councilor who speaks the loudest on burying this in the bin where it belongs.

There needs to be more conservation zone not less

The Northern Beaches Council must be sacked. Totally pro-development, pro-destruction, anti-environment greed heads. Who would have thought that this was the objective of amalgamation? Everyone.

Road access to this part of the northern beaches makes increased density untenable - intensity in Mona Vale where there is the B line and a new dual carriageway makes sense

We need to call this proposal out for what it is - an insidious and disingenuous attempt by NBC to placate their masters in Macquarie St by meeting inappropriate targets at the expense of the Pittwater environment. If there was any better argument to reverse the amalgamation that was forced upon us in 2016, and revert to a Council that truly represents the environment we live in, this is it!
