This field has been the home of many baseball and softball teams for many many years. To lose another field would mean many borough teams young and old would have to leave town and pay for use of field in other towns just to enjoy the game of baseball. Leave the field the way it is or spend the money to upgrade what is already there.

I have been involved with advocacy for safe playing fields for the past 7 years. There are many hazards associated synthetic fields. It was with pride that I gave testimony in our NJ legislature that I live in a town with good fields. Are our kids health worth the field?

Although well intended to help mitigate the problem of high impact sports (LAX, Field Hockey, etc.) destroying our natural grass fields, this proposal is too extensive, too expensive (both up front and long term life cycle costs), and more risky than needed. The same benefit can be achieved by installing a smaller and less intrusive turf surface at Meadow Ridge or Fair Haven Fields. The bottom line is that Piping Rock is not broken to the degree that it needs to be completely redesigned and reconstructed.

I would like to see the park improved but we should be pushing for a top of the line natural grass complex with better irrigation. The town should be trying to keep the authentic park like feel of Piping Rocks history!

doesn't the govt have something better to do with $1.8 million (like education)…..then a synthetic field in a suburban location?? Ridiculous use of tax $$

Absolutely NO turf! All the compelling reports listed in this petition needed to be read to learn about the toxic turf!

One of the reasons my family and I moved to rumson was first the schools, second the security and safety of the town and then the community as a whole. Rumson is a diamond in the Ruff, secluded and protected. If this get approved we will all loose our safety and security, we will generate more traffic, health risked for our children. Recently rumson had experienced break ins and on holloween several kids form ( othertowns) caused havick- which made this community feel very unsafe. I see nothing about this project that would be beneficial for our children, which is my main concern

With children who actively play on all fields at Piping Rock, I do not support a turf field. The health complications associated with turf are enough reason, but I do not want to see the baseball field eliminated either.

The idea that this turf will not need maintenance is nonsense. Leaves and dirt will mix in with the chrome rubber . This toxic turf is also a nightmare to get off of skin and clothes. It has been removed or banned from other towns so why in the world would the Borough council even consider putting this garbage down instead of regrading the field to allow better drainage? The fields should be kept as versatile as possible so that the whole population of Rumson can use it for what ever they want.. Even if that is a game of Frisbee or tag. Does every inch of our town open space have to be only for planned and scheduled games??

I am against this idea as well. Rumson is a historic town and should stay that way. This project changes the feel of the town. Preserve the parks for the children so they have a safe and natural place to play.
