TO STOP THE PROPOSED SYNTHETIC TURF FIELD INSTALLATION AT PIPING ROCK MEMORIAL PARK

Here are my concerns: 1. Getting rid of a natural park 2. Taken away our home baseball field 3. Turf fields cause health issues 4. The cost will exceed $1.8million. If the turf field at the high school was $3.6million, and it was only 100 yard field. The cost of a complete complex with lights, parking lot, multi-field. This will definitely go beyond $1.8million. 5. The tax payers of the town pay Half of project.

I am not in favor of this approach. I think the 1.8 million dollars could be put to better use without harming our children and the environment.

Please do not replace grass with plastic. Our environment and our kids need nature.

I think the solution is simple. Keep the baseball field, fully fence it in, and use it as Rumson's marquee baseball field. You then sell space on the fence to local advertisers, create a fully functional snack bar, and add lighting for the occasional night game. Then, if need be... use the field to the southeast as your "much needed" turf field. I haven't looked over what they are trying to purpose... but all I'm wondering is why does it have to take over the whole park? If you truly need this turf field, put it at Meadowridge Field Center... which is the perfect spot, tucked away in the back off Ridge Rd, within an actual sports complex... not on River Rd. surrounded by local businesses and multiple family homes. Listen, I understand Lacrosse & Football are more "popular sports" locally right now, but this is america's pastime and a simple game... why take away our small town feel, to make this town look like even bigger d-bags by adding a $1.8 million dollar turf field complex, directly across from our $3.6 million dollar turf field? Just saying.

Keep it natural!

There is definitive evidence that inhaling the petroluem based particles causes cancer, such as by goalies in soccer. Theses fields will also drain to our waterways, with uncertain damage to the Shrewsbury river, as the particles are not fixed like a roadway just running water off it. This is a bad idea for safety reasons, as well as other reasons.

The kids play ball on the baseball field all the time. To eliminate it would be a disservice to the community. I support this petition!

Piping Rock is a neighborhood PARK. We shouldn't be ripping up grass and a baseball field in a PARK to replace it with turf. Let's keep Rumson green!

According to a report by the US Environmental Protection Agency, the pellets in artificial turf, made up of pulverized tire bits and used to cushion fields and anchor synthetic grass, may contain known carcinogens such as arsenic and benzene and other harmful substances like lead. Keep Piping Rock Green!!

Please do not commence with the building of the proposed field.

I am very concerned about the negative health issues of turf fields, and opposed to adding more turf for our children to play on and ingest more hazardous chemicals.
