Pimlico Mums say no to new bridge from St George's Square

This will ruin our local community.

Bound to create congestion in neighbouring streets and disturbance for local residents, including the nursing home in St. George's Square and risks and inconvenience to children attending the Pimlico Academy and Primary School and their parents. With dedicated cycles lanes already being constructed on Vauxhall and Chelsea Bridges I see no need for an extra one.

Terrible waste of public money

As a Pimlico resident and mother, I feel this would be a huge loss to our community. There is very little green space for our little ones to run around in and St George's Square offers a safe environment for them to explore. It is also a great meeting point for mothers, babies , children and families, every day of the week all year round.

The loss of this lovely public garden would be yet another win for the few who have access to private gardens. I have used this garden for many years i itally taking my own 3 children and then children that I cared for. I know that many local nurseries , schools and Childrens Centres also rregularly visit the garden throughout the year. Although a bridge for walkers is essentially a good idea to bring it into the garden will destroy this wonderful resource. How about leading the bridge straight through Dolpin Square garden area, I bet that would soon be rejected by the wealthy residents, so hands off our garden.

I support the idea of a foot and cycle bridge but not the landing of the bridge in St George's Sq. The initial proposal cited several possible landing points and I would support the one that lands on Claverton St. This would be an acceptable compromise allow Pimlico residents easy access to the new Nine Elms Thames side walkway and restaurants, without destroying one of the only public spaces remaining in zone 1 and an essential resource for local families. Thanks.

I will be basing my votes in the next election based on how my representatives address this matter.

As is made clear elsewhere this is a vanity project, Vauxhall Bridge is 200 yards away and being revamped for bikes.

Firmly support this campaign to save St George's Square Gardens. I have also signed this petition on change.org...may be worth consolidating in one petition to maximise support?

I am a keen cyclist for many years and believe there are more than satisfactory cycle ways across this route. I am also a mother who has used the tranquility of St George's square since my cabby was born 12 months ago from birth to date. It is safe, clean, quiet and accessible in a beautiful unspoilt conservation area. This is a rare resource in zone 1, Pimlico is primarily a residential area, please respect our enjoyment of our neighbourhoods since we have little space on our doorsteps in an already central part of London. It is scandalous that Us embassy finding can push through an unpopular project which is not supported by those who live and vote in the area.

The bridge is being build 200 meters from an existing bridge. The money would be better spent on children's services by the councils which are facing cutbacks. The bridge will harm the safe village atmosphere of st George's square and Pimlico and should not go ahead

This would be a big negative for thebpimlico community.

St George's Square is one of the last green havens in our more and more built up area. These squares are what makes London still liveable for families. A bridge at the proposed position would make St George's Square a major thorough fare and letting children run around will not be safe anymore. Give children a childhood and the possibility of some freedom from being kept in doors because there is nowhere where we can let them play still relatively safely!

As a mother of 2 daughters, I often love to play with them and meet other mothers and children in St George's Square, which is safe and spacious enough for this. I am concerned that the new bridge could ruin this great space for myself and other parents and children.

St George's Square is a welcome haven of tranquillity amongst busy roads, safely accessed and much appreciated by many children to play, scoot and get involved in active games. Chelsea and Vauxhall Bridges amply serve access across the river and with the new cycle superhighway, to cyclists too.

Please please stop this mad idea...

This is our only free green space, a lifeline in a built up area. Please do not build a bridge to St George's Square

This area is a haven. The proposal is unnecessary, ridiculously expensive and would destroy the only central London 'Village'. No!

I am very concerned about the loss of this wonderful outside space, with grass, trees and flowers . This is the only one that is accessible to the public in Pimlico and as it is enclosed is a safe haven for those with young children. It provides a regular meeting place for young mothers who are often socially isolated, and allows children to play outside with others in a garden. Please don't change it.

Pls don't take away St George's square, it's the only communal green pace in Pimlico and is used by everyone and so popular all year round
