I am in agreement with you where the town needs to have a non-confidence vote regarding the councillors. But more importantly people of this town need to vote. Voter turn out is quite low for municipality elections... so when persons do not take a closer look at the candidates, this is the type of governance we are given. The voters are the ones who make the council. Like the saying goes, "we reap what we sow", and right now we have a lot of bad weeds governing our Town. And we need to have them pulled out.

Our taxes are way too high already and I do not support this move

I don't see why this is necessary. Our taxes are too high already.

I don't see the need to move. Why pay for a lease?

What a joke. Rumor has it the government was willing to subsidise the water project to 500 a resident but good ol mayor zomber turned it down and the offer expired. Water was installed anyway with no subsidy another excellent decision made by town council.

i was outraged to find out through the rumor mill that our arrogant councillors were going behind taxpayers backs on another major expenditure. i am tired of pulling the knife out of my back. back woods politics and these councillors got to go. i do not trust the present town council is acting in the best interests of the taxpayers and the lack of disclosure and the way they sneak behind closed doors on major descisions is appalling. the space in the mall wont be enough space if the town grows as they say, then what, move again and leave $200,000 in leasehold improvements behind and spend more on another move. this process was done very underhandedly and now that it leaked out a meeting is called to appease the lynch mob now forming. but the decision has already been made so this meeting is a joke. there should be a vote of non confidence to oust the council and get some people in council that will be more upfront with the taxpayers and act for our better interests. there is no place for secret deals and under the table dealings in our small town, this is not the senate. if more space is sincerly needed hold a town meeting about investing in a town ownded building that can be expanded in the future as needed and remains an asset for the taxpayers. very disappointed in the way this council treats the taxpayers of pilot butte and expects people to put up with this crap.

Waste of taxpayers money!

Totally not necessary to move to mall, there's plenty of room at there present location. Taxes and water project costs are enough. This was well hidden, a neighbour informed us of this petition, must spread the word to sign this or the petition at the store.

Totally unnecessary expense to burden the residents of Pilot Butte. People are still recovering from their huge financial output for the water project.

How did this stay so quiet for so long? This needs to be looked into further as to who benefits from this move. Definitely not the tax payers of Pilot Butte. Seems fishy!

I find it just simply pathetic as to the lack of respect the town administration/council has towards the taxpayers. Many of the residents were (for a lack of a better word) “forced” to absorb a huge cost regarding the water system. Interesting within The Municipality Act, 3(2d) states, “municipalities are accountable to the people who elect them and are responsible for encouraging and enabling public participation in the governance process”. Then one has to ask why there wasn’t any public notice prior to the notice on the town’s website (dated August 12th, 2015) to announce their plans to move? Also, interestingly enough, the Act – Part II, 4(2d) and (2e) states the following regarding the purpose of the council, “(d) to foster economic, social and environmental well-being; (e) to provide wise stewardship of public assets” Therefore, by moving to the town office from its present location to the mall and essentially “forcing” the taxpayers to pay for the rent, renovations, etc., where there are so many other issues and concerns that should be addressed within the town does not add up to “wise stewardship of public assets” in my books. Does the council have such little respect with the taxpayers in this town and be upfront with the taxpayers as to the reasons to rent such a property? Why does the council deem it necessary to hide this information from the public? I believe that the taxpayers of the Town of Pilot Butte have to truly consider that maybe it is time for a change of council members. We simply need people who will be fair, honest, upfront and will be accountable to the needs of the town, not to their needs of glamour and prestige.

Secrets and more secrets. Local government town council should be transparent. Open honest government is what taxpayers expect.

The most ridiculous thing I have ever heard! This town could use a lot of other things considering it doesn't have much to offer.

Very disappointed/not surprised that a petition has to be brought forward to hold council responsible for their proposed mall rental actions. What is the need and what would happen to current office space? There is too much of a lack of consultation by council and administration to the taxpayers.

We do not wish to incur a further financial burden, especially one that is not voted on by the taxpayers.
