We pharmacists view this as the devaluing of our professional services. The active promotion of discounting sends a message to the Ontario government, third party payers, other health care professionals and, to patients that pharmacy does not need full funding for the professional services we offer.
The signatures obtained oppose this practice.

I have been reading through the comments and it is honestly wild to see how many of us feel like our expertise is being completely undermined by these discount tactics. It feels like we are losing the bigger argument about professional value every time someone tries to undercut the system for a couple of bucks. I am trying to organize my thoughts into a clearer argument to bring to the board so please hang in there while I work through this mess.

I honestly did not think so many of us felt this frustrated about the discounting but here we are and it feels like the tide is turning. It really means a lot to see people stepping up with their names instead of just lurking in the shadows because our professional dignity actually matters and we all know it.

100% on board. The government already thinks we are just pill counters and this makes it worse.
Totally agree. My time and expertise have value. Why are we undercutting ourselves like this?
Unprofessional. If patients want cheap they can go elsewhere. We provide care not coupons.
Its embarassing to see pharmacies treat our services like a bargain bin item. Stop the waiver.
Finally someone said it. We are professionals not discount retailers. This race to the bottom has to stop.
