The Friends of  Pflugerville Dog Parks are a not for profit organization of individuals dedicated to creating, maintaining and preserving dog parks in the great city of Pflugerville.  As our first focus, we are collecting signatures in an effort to bring an off-leash dog park area to a portion of the already existing open space at Pfluger park. This dog park area would allow for the numerous dogs that already use the trails along the Gilliland Creek/Pfluger Park/
Pfennig Park area, to socialize and play, leash free in a fenced or "off leash" area. Dog park areas are great places for the owners of dogs to socialize and relax, and for those who do not have dogs, to spend time with them in a controlled setting. Dogs are increasingly becoming more and more a part of society, with 14 named parks in Austin, all of which are widely used. As they have started to become a part in more family households, it makes sense for Pflugerville's motto "Where Quality Meets Life" to cover all aspects of our lives, including our furry family members. What is a better way, than to celebrate these members of our families, with their own area in a great city park? We appreciate your support...
In order for this dog park to be non-invasive, we have considered two different areas (circled on the map at the back). Both of these areas are, as of now, unused and wide-open spaces, that are far enough from surrounding houses to where there should be minimal to no neighborhood disturbance. One of these two spaces is well equipped with shade, for comfort in the summer time, the other with an already existing bench, and water fountain. The upper space has off-street parking along Pfennig lane, and the shaded space below has a couple of lots right off of Pfluger park that would be great for access.
Putting together an enclosed space would require the erection of a fence, a water source, a waste station, and potentially voluntary upkeep.  Although we hope to fund a large part of this park through our tax dollars, the Friends of Pflugerville Dog Parks has been created as a means to help build financial support for this and other "Pflugerville Dog Parks", through the voluntary contributions and/or donations -of both time and money- of those who wish to benefit from these great places.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                         In order for this cause to be considered by the city council of Pflugerville, we will need the amplesupport of Pflugerville Dog lovers.  Therefore, we have set a goal for this petition of 500 signatures.  The petition will first be presented to the Pflugerville Parks and Recreation committee the third Thursday of June (June 20, 2013).  Along with your support on this petition, we hope that all who are passionate about the dogs in this great city try to attend the meeting with us.  See you there!          there!  259019012542139.jpg?r=0.4128992631804954
