Please preserve the park. More developments are coming, the roads are getting busier - we need this green area to create some balance and for the trees to clean some of the air.

enhanced parks in this community will be essential and are consistent with past commitments by the county. Please honor your commitments as they are the foundation with which taxpayers rely when voting on bonds

78 petition signatures on paper and 35 online so far. 113 signatures total during the first 24 hours of the petition. People everywhere are supportive and fully understand the need to preserve the few remaining natural places that are left in this rapidly urbanizing area of Fairfax County. This is a wonderful community and neighborhood that values the natural environment and appreciates the ecological services provided by forest trees and watersheds. Maybe one day in the not too distant future, children will once again be awed by the wonders of nature in this setting of forest and streams much the same as did the Quander family descendants as they once played here as children.

Protecting the Fairchild property is a must for me. With the Shelby already built and two more similar projects coming right at Kings Crossing we will be overwhelmed with cement, traffic and people. We need to save what we can of the woodlands in our area.

34 paper petition signatures collected between 10 - 12 today knocking doors in the Spring Bank neighborhood. Thank you Paul Krizek for showing up and knocking doors to help collect petition signatures this morning. It was apparent to me that Paul's service is done with joy, a whole heart and a free mind. If you live in Spring Bank and have not signed the online petition expect to see me at your door in the near future to collect your signature of support. Thanks to all that have signed so far and to those that will sign in the days ahead. If you have signed but your spouse or other adult members in your household have not, please get them to sign as well.

We are a family of 6 (four children). Preserving the property would preserve a place for children and youth to play and romp around in support of healthy lifestyles. It's a shame if the only place left for kids to play are in diminishing yards and roads. Preservation of properties would also help to ensure a variety of birds and wildlife to enjoy in our neighborhood backyard, contributing greatly to overall quality of life and happiness in the community.

Special thanks to both candidates for the Virginia 44th District Delegate primary race for supporting our petition and the transfer of this land to the park authority. Justin Brown has signed and commented on his support. Paul Krizek has translated the petition into Spanish and will go with me to many of the Latino residences in and near to Spring Bank to help gather petition signatures tomorrow. Service and commitment supporting grass roots citizen efforts is the trademark of a great community leader. I am hopeful that additional candidates for public office in our upcoming elections will strive to meet the bar set by these candidates. Please spread the word of this petition through your network of friends, colleagues and like-minded grass roots supporters.

When our community comes together, good things happen. Getting as many names on this petition is an important step to saving this fabulous historic woodland area with its springs and headwater branches of the Quander Brook stream valley of the Belle Haven watershed. The fact that this 9 acres was already donated to the County and requires no land acquisition costs makes this a no brainer for preservation and designation as a FFC Park. I strongly support this petition drive effort by the Spring Bank community.
