This wooded area is beautiful and would be a lovely resource for our community and the large influx of population growth along rt 1.

Paul Mieszczanski is right that access has been a point raised by county officials though I believe for the purpose of thwarting efforts to make the transfer over to the Park Authority. There is already a gated access point behind the Walmart complex with an access easement. This would be an ideal access point that could have a small parking lot for vehicles and service vehicles. I believe that in itself makes access as an issue moot. Pedestrian access from behind Quander Road School could easily be accomplished with a conservation easement on a very small sliver of private land Paul has identified on the tax maps. Some kind of pedestrian bridge would be required as there is an extremely steep slope on that side of one of the branches of Quander Brook. As a citizen, I look to the county and staff to assist the communities in resolving the issues they say are problems not to just say access is an issue, therefore "no park for you".

The issue has always been the lack of public access. I am for this property to become a park as long as the public has access. Recommend 3 options for access via easements, or donations of a small pathway of property by the owner(s):
Option 1 (preferred): The following large property between Quander Road School and the County Property MAP #: 0833 01 0024 may be a candidate for a public easement
MAP #: 0833 01 0026F with Land Area (SQFT) 101,109; Tax Year 2015, Current Land assessment is ONLY $207,000 .
Option 2: Shields Avenue access on property MAP #: 0833 01 0025.
Option 3: Easement access from behind the Walmart complex. //

Thanks to Martin and those in the Spring Bank Community for taking lead on preserving this land and turning it into something that the community can use and fully appreciate. I fully support and will advocate with our community to move this project forward. Whether it is a lack in transportation dollars, a lack in funding for our schools, or a lack of funding for projects to reduce pollution and increase green space, our community continues to not receive our "fair share." I will fight for these projects on our behalf!
