We the undersigned have no confidence in the senior management team’s ability to ensure that Human Resources is functioning effectively. This situation has been deteriorating since 2011 and has had an impact in terms of collective negotiation with UCU and Unison and also at an individual level. Agreed policies are not adhered to and agreements between the union officers and HR have been reneged upon by management.
We consider that there has been a failure to honour the recognition agreement that the management have signed with the unions and the ensuing breakdown in industrial relations cannot be allowed to continue.
We call upon the governing body to take steps to initiate an investigation into the way in which HR have been allowed by senior management to conduct themselves with unions, flouting agreements made at JCNC and breaching negotiated procedures.
I have been reviewing the detailed feedback many of you provided regarding the recurring issues within human resources. My focus remains on preparing a formal briefing for the governing body to ensure these grievances are addressed systematically.

Finally someone is speaking up about this mess. HR has been impossible to deal with for years and it is about time the governors actually looked at what is going on behind closed doors.

This whole department needs a complete overhaul. They just ignore the rules when it suits them and it makes working here miserable.
