40% pay cut and no pay rises over 10 years. Nonsense.

I am an NCHD who would like to become a GP. However I have received constant dire warnings about the career - both financially unviable and quality of life unviable. I am considering leaving medicine as a result as hospital medicine is at such an extremely low moral eb, the constant HR attempts to prevent pay or overtime, the non support from senior colleagues regarding the level of on the floor bureaucracy, poor atmosphere and under staffing.

Disgraceful state of GP in Ireland. Seriously underfunded and under valued yet in every emergency they are there helping their patients & supporting their communities. Now practices are closing and waiting times for appointments are lengthening. If we lose GP the rest of the health service will fall with it.

In the last 5 yrs, we have gone backwards in what we can offer our patients, we’ve had 3 excellent GPs emigrate. The government has no plan B and when GP disintegrates the hospitals simply will not cope.

I’m a GP wishing to provide a decent service to patients but I’m finding it increasingly difficult to do so.

Could not agree more with a need for change. Gps are so overstretched and unable to cope with demand nationwide. I hope the government takes notice of this petition and listens to needs of gps and the public.

I really get annoyed when we get defensive about the competition law - the reason it is still working against us is that we have not the collective will to test it in court - we need a few doctors to be imprisioned for the cause to bring this ridiculous farce to its knees and I have no problem spending some time in gaol

Its unjust that our GP s are being treated so unfairly The Government have to wake up for once and for all
