If Government don't stop the brain drain and drop in standard of medical care soon they won't be able to switch the system back on at a later date.

I am abroad and considering returning to Ireland. The state of general practice in Ireland does not inspire me however. I work in the NHS where gps are treated with little respect at times and every decreasing resource. I am so disappointed that the same thing is happening in Ireland. We are undervalued and overworked and the health service is now facing the consequences.

GP's are of systemic importance to the Irish Healthcare system. If they were a bank, the Oireachtas would sit through the night to enact emergency legislation. Meaningful engagement with GP's is essential to implementing the Govt's stated healthcare strategy (as well as the much vaunted Slaintecare).

FEMPI needs to be reversed immediately as it has been unconditionally for the TDs. We then need a new contract negotiated by ALL relevant parties and not just the one the government like to play ball with.

This current position is entirely untenable. As a future gp I genuinely fear for enough training places and being able to provide proper services to patients who deserve more

Minister should be aware investing in GP reduces overall health care costs. Time he stepped up or this ongoing damage will not be easily repaired.
