Include Complex PTSD in the APA DSM

Please include complex PTSD in the DSM. Many of my patients qualify for this diagnosis.

If it is included, perhaps it will be diagnosed earlier more often than it is.

It is impossible to get effective treatment without a correct diagnosis. Most providers I've worked with, or tried to establish treatment with, had not heard of complex trauma. Fewer still failed to grasp the importance that there indeed, is a distinct difference between PTSD and CPTSD that cannot be dismissed due to ignorance, indifference, or the absence of a more correct assessment of presenting symptoms, or appropriate remedies to facilitate the healing process, rather than hinder it. . My life, in decades, continues to be a testimony to this critical deficit. I am not the only one. Please add my reality to this DSM, the holy grail by which all practicing providers refer to so that they too, will have a viable reference. Without this entry, my symptoms aren't real, and of course, my diagnosis doesn't even exist.

I suffer from cPTSD since 1990. I have 30yrs firsthand experience of knowing why it should be included. It's real and it's far different than just PTSD.

Lives are forever lost & damaged if C-PTSD is not taken seriously. It must be included & differentiated.

It is well past time to include this in the DSM, given the weight this diagnostic tool carries.

C-PTSD has it's own conditions, symptoms, and treatment methods and should be distinguished.

CPTSD needs to be readily accepted, respected publications including CPTSD is needed to expand and continue the resarch into this debilitating mental ilness

Please know this does exist and nobody should have go through life being abused and traumatised, it needs to be recognised so victims can be freed from terrible life situations.

The DSM needs to acknowledge C-PTSD. Many of my patients need to have this diagnosis-it fits so well with child abuse, neglect etc

This is a no-brainer, by now.

Complex-ptsd should be included in the DSM-V.

Complex PTSD has been kept out of both DSM IV and 5. ICD 11 will include the diagnosis. What does the rest of the world know and acknowledge that we won't?

I cannot believe we still need to have a petition about this topic. It is a shame that health care professionals are gaslighting us in the same way that, for many of us, our abusers did. *Complex* PTSD is real. Please recognize it in the DSM.
