College faculty are supposed to lead by example. Racism is an issue that needs to be resolved. Until we as a country can discuss it without the emotional scars of the past clouding our view, we will never make any progress.

Higher education should not give a platform for racists or racism in any form- including reverse racism. Let's rise above characterizing people based on their race.

If she where whit and replaced all her statements from complaining about whites with blacks, she would have been fired immediately.

Wow, she has got some bitterness. I'm sure she won't take it out on any of the White students!

As evidenced by her words and tone, this is her heartfelt feelings that she shared on Twitter, not an opinion on race. Therefore she should be terminated as any white person would have been had they said the same thing regarding African-American males. Think what would have happened had a white person (male or female, any age) said they try every year to not spend a dime at any African-American-owned business!

A racist remark is a racist remark. Don't try to hide it in the double talk with a double standard.

She can't boycott white businesses because she DEPENDS on whites to live the lifestyle she wants. What a disgusting piece of filth!

Call a spade a spade. Saida Grundy is a bigot. Just because she is black doesn't give her the right to spew racist comments!

This kind of racism and bigotry should not be tolerated. It's not an issue of a free speech, or uncomfortable conversations. She stated that she attempts to "not spend a dime in a white owned businesses" during "MLK week". For that reason she cannot state that she is discussing inconvenient truths. The only thing inconvenient, was how she outed herself as an avowed racist. While I can accept that she wishes to be a horrible person, I cannot accept that she is in a position to teach our youth.

According to many opportunities to walk back her statements, Grundy expressed blatant/radical racism and sexism and should never be in a position to influence young minds! Boston University is encouraging her remarks if they keep her. Her freedom of speech and evaluating students in an unbiased way are two incompatible theories here!

If I said I don't shop at any business due to the race of the owner....

Take a stand! Allowing her to get away with a statement like this opens up the possibilities that any racist remark against white people will go unpunished. She has made some absolutely shameful remarks.

Ms Grundy intends to fight racism with racism! BU should reconsider their inappropriate choice.

Grundy's statements are deplorable. If we are going to continue growing as a society, we cannot allow individuals of this mind frame to teach and spread this despicable philosophy to any person regardless of race, ethnicity, gender or class. Shame on you Grundy, you are not only a raciest but a sexist.

Had these comments been made by a white professor, and swap the wording, they would be publicly shamed and fired.

Based on "her own words", she is unfit to teach! How can she teach African American Studies when when (from her own tweets) she doesn't even know the history of who started and is guilty of enslaving them. She is racist, she is uninformed, improperly educated, and biased. How can anyone take a job to teach a subject she is so obviously unfit for. Wake of BU. She has to go our there will be a lot of negative repercussions for this Great university. In ending, I also believe she is unbalanced psychologically! She tants, raves and I know my children will never take a class of hers. Due to this I believe she will have an almost all Black classroom full of students where she can spread more hate and misinformation which will fuel an already racially charged society! Again I say, SHE HAS TO GO!

I find it incomprehensible that Boston U would accept this individual as part of their faculty. Her hate-speak is unacceptable. If the tables were turned and this was a white instructor espousing this ridiculous rhetoric, the backlash would be fierce and perhaps even erupt into riots, which would then be condoned by black civil rights personalities, looking for their 15 minutes of fame. An instructor should not be paid to teach this to impressionable young adults. This is racism pure and simple and should not be tolerated on either side. Her apology is simply more of the same, blaming race issues in our country on white males. There is plenty of blame to go around.......
