I think she should refuse her salary on ethical grounds - it's coming from mostly white males.

While I believe in free speech I also believe that racist and sexist comments like this have no place in a modern society. BU is creating a dangerous double standard by their refusal to terminate this young woman's contract and is setting itself up for a lawsuit. I sincerely hope that Miss Grundy takes a hard look at herself and expunges the hate from her heart.

A racist will teach racism! We do not need that in our schools. It will do more to fire her and make a stand against racism (in any form), then to turn a blind eye and allow it to continue.

Racism should not be allowed from anyone. I don't see how somebody who is so racist can effectively teach the whole student body.

A racist professor at a university is a disgrace and counter productive to race relations and a smoke and mirrors show for what the real problem is

After reading through her "tweets" it became clear that Dr. Grundy didn't think to fact-check her statements whatsoever. She claimed slavery was a purely "white" European construct and that St. Patrick's Day was a "white Kwanzaa"; these claims are alarming in that they are blatantly false and she is expected to be a professor. Everyone has the right to free speech, however, when you are to hold a position such as an assistant-professor for African-American studies you must be held to a standard that reflects truth and integrity. One should not inflame, embellish, and misinform when teaching in higher education. It degrades the education those students are paying for.

If a white educator can, and almost always is, fired for this type of behavior then a black educator can and must be fired for it as well.

She is clearly prejudicial when it comes to whites and white males specifically. Perhaps this extends to Asians--we'll never know as her views were specifically targeted at this point and addressed by people who care about multiculturalism and acceptance being more than simply an ideal. MLK graduated from this university. I think he would be so disappointed.
