I hope you can reconsider your plans to do a minimal urban campus and instead consider development of a full university campus which is what Bend really needs. Your current urban campus seems to offer less to the community than our middle or high schools, which to me is sad. Few Bend residents seem to realize that and instead think we are getting a real traditional college campus with all the amenities that go with a traditional campus.

The cart has been before the horse since the start of this project.

Though I am all for a university here in Bend, I do not approve of the manner in which the city and OSU have handled the process. There needs to be more transparency when considering this important decision for Bend's future

Years ago both the city of Bend and the 2030 hot shots all sold Juniper Ridge to the public with artist layout drawings and vernacular on where the OSU-Cascades campus would go. I gave the city treasurer suggestions on how Bend could do it and it has never been mentioned. Bend should stick with their dream of Juniper Ridge; a west side by-pass and work on development of the entire city not just the west side. Call me if you'd like to know the plan on Juniper Ridge 541-388-9871.

Put it on the east side where we were told it would be placed.

We have the land on the east side of Bend that the voters were told was being purchased for this use. Do what you say you were going to do. When we passed the vote to pay our taxes to purchase this land and now politicians again lie.

It needs to be in a more accessible location with better parking. I'd actually like to see it on the outskirts of Redmond, somewhere close to US 97.

Bad Idea

Bend does not have the infrastructure to handle the population the campus would bring. Over crowded

The campus should be placed in a better location.

Like the homepage states: for the university, against the location

I support the University expansion. I do not support the location. Nor do I support the lack of due process of the voice of the community regarding the location site. Residents on the Westside are already living with significant increased traffic, general density and congestion, and practically non-existent housing rentals. The University in the Westside location will certainly increase these challenging livability issues.

Poorly planned and not very well thought out , re: neighborhood impact 10 yrs, 20, yrs. down the road! When they expand, which they will, who pays for cleanup of the site? Why not out at the North East side of town? Room for campus expansion, parking that won't impact the local community, room for campus housing, new bus route into town etc.....

To open a campus in such a small site with what appears to be minimal consideration for the impact on the west sides infrastructure and ease of access for out of town students smells like there is only the interests of a small number of individuals who will prophet from the site who are getting consideration.

Students who come to Bend to attend OSU will bring cars. This will not be an urban campus as you might find at Portland State. Students who come here will want to be active in the outdoors and not everything can be done via bikes. If you are going to stay at the present site, at least build a parking garage. Why would anyone think that OSU Cascades will be any different than COCC in terms of cars. Almost every spot under every juniper at COCC is paved and yet it is still very hard to find a parking spot at COCC. I use 14th street daily and even now it is very hard to make a left hand turn anywhere on 14th street. When students at the new OSU campus attempt to find a parking spot with no success, you will find their cars parked in parking lots of businesses, parked on the street, parked in the bushes and parked in front of private homes. Juniper Ridge was sold to us showing an artist's concept of a university. It is a much better choice as there is many acres where expansion could take place. I support the 4 year university. I do not support the location.

I am an enthusiastic supporter of an OSU Cascades campus in Central Oregon, however I believe the present location is a very short-sighted choice. Certainly the site is ideally located for campus social life...brew pubs and restaurants. However it is located immediately adjacent to the only vehicle access to the Cascade Lakes Highway, with the likelihood of adversely affecting all existing and future users of this sole means of accessing the areas which make Bend so appealing to students, residents, and visitors. The potential for realistic fiscally viable expansion into adjacent properties (pumice mine, problematic land fill) is poorly conceived and costs have not been revealed by project proponents. A Highway 97 site would offer greater accessibility to all of Central Oregon. The University campus could be a focal point of a model community which would be drawn to the campus, including open space, expansion potential, affordable student housing (both University and private investment), a vibrant support community of shopping, restaurants, pubs, etc. You build the campus and the university community will follow. Plus ecomies of scale would ensure that many different entities, both public and private, could share in the development of necessary infrastructure. We would have a university community worth of the phrase, rather than an expansion of a community college on a campus the size of a middle school. Let's really think long term!

This is the most ludicrous idea I ever heard of! As bad as Obamacare - to enroll thousands more with no more doctors & doctors saying they will quit/retire and we are to believe health care will be cheaper - ha - same ridiculous thinking - neither makes any sense! Bend is already so much more crowded everywhere and especially in the selected campus area - right now - without thousands more students! Heard they will bike - ha - cold here from Oct to April! about the whole school season - low rental vacancy right now! Read recently about land near land fill - made so much sense so why is no one talking about that. We need a NEW area - good for economy - more stores/apartments/all kinds of new building and students can be in a central place n- can be crowded in their own area and leave the rest of Bend alone - we are crowded enough!!

We live right across the street from proposed site. Traffic is coming down from Mt. Washington already fast enough. Just thing how much worse it will be if the university opens up. Put it on the East side where there is more room.
