What a shame to see all this lack of support. As an institution making this kind of investment I would expect as a community we should be singing the praises of a well located site. This will ruin the Westside.

10 acres does not meet the OSU-C space plan requirements and does not match the community vision for a university branch campus in Bend. Please follow the community vision and master plan a full campus.

We are against this caotic attempt to cram this joke of a so called university into the lovely little community of Bend without the space and infrastructure to support it, and a majority of citizens that don't want it in this location.

Stop this campus from being build on the Westside. Too much traffic and no apartments and no parking.

People of Bend educate yourselves...read articles about what has happened in Corvallis and how OSU and Ed Ray have not cared about Corvallis at all. They have been terrible neighbors there and will be here to. The location of this campus is absurd, not enough parking, increased traffic, no affordable housing etc....as taxpayers we are paying for JR that sits empty... it has room to grow with businesses and housing and OSU was offered land there at no charge!

The planned location JUST DOESN'T MAKE SENSE. The site is too small, will be too congested and it is not easily accessible by all Central Oregonians.

The current site for the campus will stress infrastructure, that now, is already stretched too thin. The hidden costs will be significant will be significant and should completely evaluated.

I do not want OSU on the west side- traffic through Century/Washington round about is already a nightmare at certain times of the day

Why did City Manager, Eric King, sign a Memorandum of Understanding on January 16, 2014 with OSU-C to allow - and SUPPORT - the university in "phasing" the development of their proposed westside campus ... with a Master Plan to follow, sometime in the future?
The MOU says, in part that "There is some inherent risk with this approach which OSU-Cascades acknowledges and accepts."
In addition it states that OSU-C will "document and respond to community concerns."
Is proceeding with the development of their proposed campus BEFORE the legal appeals process has reached a final conclusion, responding "to community concerns"?
Or is it the behavior of a bully? Just because the Bend Development Code permits them to do so, doesn't make the Code right and it certainly doesn't make the university right.

One of the worst ideas in the history of Bend, Oregon. Breaking ground just shows how arrogant and unwilling to listen to what the public really wants, OSU and other proponents for the west side location are.

Very concerned why the college has begun the process of breaking ground while a large majority of local citizens are opposed. Remember the little campus of Standford, where they wanted it in the beginning? What would that be now, glad they listened to their community.

I DO NOT want OSU-Cascades to be on the Westside!!!!!!!!!!! It makes NO sense at all to open a university in a place where there is not much room for it to grow AT ALL !!!!! The Westside is also the most EXPENSIVE part of town to live on and how will these college kids afford it?

OSU-C is not taking into consideration land needed for future expansion nor traffic issues in going forward with construction at the current site.
Juniper Ridge is a far better option.

I live in the neighborhood, in one of the last affordable apts. I'm on a fixed income. I would bet that once the college is in, the owner will either sell or raise the rent out of our reach. Interesting that the city hasn't talked about the improvements that need to be made on Century. From Simpson going towards Galveston they're are no crosswalks. At Simpson, many drivers don't even stop! This isn't about education, it's about putting a school in a "hip" location, with no regard to the existing tenants. Starbucks at Century has already begun, they took out the comfortable seating, raised prices, and removed the recycling bin. Safeway will be overrun! Eric Hobart, Bend
