thank you for this work. More long term residents who are not NIMBYs need to write to the Bulletin with editorials like mine. Is there s way to get to the bulletin editorial board and hold their feet to the fire to start making OSU accountable??

For the university. Not the location. Not planned. Not adequate housing. Infrastructure does not exist for even the initial 1800 students.

1500 available acres at Juniper Ridge.....perfect accessible OSU location. Why not? This makes no sense....10 acres? I just don't get it.....

I would like to see the college on the cities juniper ridge, the city spent a lot of money on this land with plans to have a 4 year college. We don't need this type of traffic in the middle of Bend. in fact the city convinced everyone to spend over 2 million dollars for planning on Juniper Ridge. This is a better location for access to the college for Redmond and other out lying cities as well. Also better opportunities for housing. Please consider the land that the city of Bend spent millions on Juniper Ridge. Not the middle of Bend.

I have lived here for many years and graduated high school here in 1986 from Mountain View. I am so sick of the west side getting all the attention and development when it is expensive and overcrowded. The west side is basically a small suburb of LA! Snobby, snotty non Oregonians. I don't usually speak up but I am sick and tired of this city leadership favoring the west side when it is the dumbest thing anyone could think to do. Truly, who dreams up this shit! What about all that urban expansion stuff we did before the bust NE of town where Les Schwab is. Tons of land and access there? Does it have to be crammed in the west side with all the trust fund snoots? Frankly I could care less about their inconvenience, but an idiot could look at a map and tell you a university makes no sense over there from a congestion standpoint!!! Pull you proverbial heads out of your ass and stop this shit. Do something smart and cost effective for one on your spoiled and privileged lives!

Get rid of Sally Russell and the rest of the politically driven city council members that have been lobbying for this location without requiring a master plan and ignoring major unresolved issues. Nobody with an ounce of common sense would support such a poorly conceived plan in the face of such obvious traffic and parking issues. Unfortunately common sense has gone out the door in favor of political motivations. Traffic already stacks up more than a quarter mile approaching the Skyliners/Mt. Washington trafftic circle from the south in the morning on school days. And that's BEFORE the new Middle School on Skyliners opens this Fall. The Century/Mt. Washington traffic circle is also a nightmare on school days in the morning and afternoon with both Seven Peaks and Cascade Middle school within a stones throw of that circle. The proposed campus location is one block from this traffic circle! How do you spell GRIDLOCK?? Add to this the fact that there won't be nearly enough parking for students and faculty at this proposed location, further clogging our already crowded streets. Our leadership has failed us miserably.... we need to vote them out.

It appears to me that the university has been disingenuous about their intentions. Quite honestly, I am so tired of the lack of transparency and lack of discussion. There seems to be no room for discussion about impacts nor an effort at problem solving, just denial and pushing agendas. I would expect much more from academics, much more from the state than getting their way without due discussion with the community. And that is not about pushing their goals onto City council - it's about a real discussion with town meetings for Everyman (and woman) to participate, none having more power than the next person. The interest ought to be about consensus and embracing what would really serve the whole community, not making more problems for a particular area. That would be decent or at the very least could be decent.

Where are students going to live? Bend has a 1.08% vacancy rate, with rentals severely overpriced. A university that is going to be successful needs to plan for student housing (and parking) and the west side is not adequate. Bend doesn't have the transportation infrastructure for students/staff not to be expected to drive and park. There are other options. Construction on the west side should cease before money is needlessly wasted.

Finally someone has acknowledged that the former waste site is still dangerous. I knew someone who walked through there and fell into a hole and burned his legs so bad he had to spend a few weeks in the hospital, now is that what we want for our kids to go to college next to a still tox8wasts site

Proceeding with the construction flies in the face of common sense. Stop Now!
