These testing requirements are outrageous and unnecessary. The teachers need to be able to spend their time teaching, not testing. The student need to spend their time building a love of learning not sitting in tests that do not help them to progress. NC needs to wake up!!

Commom Core destroys learning environment. Stop making teachers teach for a test.

My daughter is in 3rd grade in Catawba County. these standards restrict a teacher's ability to truly teach a child; they only focus on getting the children ready to pass the test, not actually learning. the teachers are held accountable for a certain number of students who pass or fail and that is not if they're measurement of their attitude as a teacher or the value they add to a child's learning

It is time to engage our students to be problem solvers and not just test takers. Real life is not a customized pen and paper test. Do the right thing; repeal Common Core and solve the problem of boring our students into mediocracy.

Core Curriculum looks good on paper but in practice it is not beneficial to our children. Please stop all this insane testing and let the teachers teach our children. Let our children learn at their own pace and I. Their own level. This need for conformity is unrealistic.

I signed one on paper and I believe that our children deserve to be taught and not whatever this 'crap' is. I have seen some of the questions and nothing about them is teaching.

I will be taking these signatures and the paper petition to my legislature meeting on Tuesday, February 4th. Thank you to all who have responded by signing and/or sharing the problems we are facing in our schools by signing the petition. Please continue letting your school board, superintendents and legislature know that we will continue the fight for our children with our voices.

I agree, my sons were forced to read so much, they hated just reading for leisure.

I feel the read to achieve program is detrimental to our children. My daughter is in the accelerated learning students in her grade and has been since kindergarten. She previously enjoyed attending school and learning. Currently she is in the third grade and dislikes school. Also, she has been reading on a 5th/6th grade level since last year but doesn't enjoy reading any longer. One if her hobbies was reading but with all of the stress and weekly requirements at school she seldom picks up a book. These students brains are on overload and need a break. I feel there are more suitable ways to teach children. This year in third grade she is learning to take tests.
