I have always heard of the global Volcani's impact on AgResearch, in particular in dry environments, but in many areas of Agriculture research. It sounds as it would be a terrible loss moving it, by whatever reasons. Instead, Israelian authorities might be thinking in the opening of a new Volcani branch for the less developed areas...

Volcani Center is the premier center for much of the most sophisticated basic and applied agricultural research done today. Modern research approaches are highly technical and collaborative and these activities are poorly served in remote locations. Volcani should remain in its present location.

I can testify the location of the volcani center is well located, indeed it facilitates :
- congress venue,
- foreign scientifics stay (short or long)
- student stay (graduate and post-graduate);

It is clear to me that to transfer the Volcani center from its current location, where it enjoys a synergistic relationship with Hebrew University's Faculty of Agriculture, the Weizmann Institute, Bar Ilan and Tel Aviv Universities, to a remote location in the north of the country would dramatically decrease the capabilities of the Volcani Institute itself, but would also decrease Israel's international capabilities and profile.

Volcani center is a leading institute in agricultural research. We had a fruitful cooperation . The relocation of the Istitute will disturbe the research activies for a long period and will change the center of agricultural research away from the center of Israely agriculture.
